On a recent trip through Scotland, an English toddler discovered the joy of golf at a local driving — and it turned out to be an unexpectedly brilliant day out. The itself was well-kept and welcoming, with plenty of space for learners of all ages. The little one took to it with gusto, eagerly grabbing his club and sending balls flying in every possible direction (mostly forward, thankfully). The highlight, without question, was the iconic green tractor guy — the machine trundling along collecting golf balls. For the toddler, this became less a driving session and more an epic quest to hit the moving target. Hours of pure entertainment, even if not a single ball connected. The driving also featured a café that impressed in its own right. Meals were hearty, very tasty, and reasonably priced — a rare find at attractions like this. The staff were consistently warm and friendly, with big smiles that made the toddler feel right at home (and kept the grown-ups happy too). All in all, it was a surprisingly perfect stop: a fun introduction to golf for a child, complete with built-in entertainment, and a cosy café that turned the outing into a proper family day. Promises were made that the toddler would keep practicing as he grows — though we suspect his main goal will always be hitting that tractor. Lovely friendly place. Was out for breakfast this week and unfortunately they were very poor quality. Every thing was over cooked. The black pudding was rubbery, the bacon was tough and chewy. The outside of the sausage was rubbery. The coffe was also a huge disappointment. Our lattes were more like white coffees. No foam at all and they coffee was bitter. On reflection the food came to quick to all be fresh cooked so must be on hot plates hence the rubbery issue. Overall it’s a great place staff and Gouda lunches and cakes. Just a pitty they lower the standards for breakfast. Had our first visit last week and I had the full cooked breakfast. All very until I tried to cut the sausages! Unfortunately they were brickhard and obviously from yesterday :-(. I was going to mention about the sausages when I went to pay for our food, but my friend paid when I went to visit the toilet :-(. Despite the very hard sausages, we would definitely go back for breakfast. 👍👍👍👍. And if anything was wrong, I would bring it to the attention of the very helpful staff. If a golfer it's a double bonus! Positive- Food was and of value. Negative- There was what appeared to be an elderly staff member working today (14th Sept, 2025) who was appallingly rude and unwelcoming. From the second we entered the cafe we felt unwelcome and we found her attitude so rude it was laughable. We have been here a number of times over the years but won’t be returning due to her overall manner. The balls are really cheap balls, basically like hitting a pebble, bases need tidying up. You won’t get a true practice if you’re a golfer. More a cafe with some Balls for families to hit and have fun. My score is purely down to the quality of the balls at £1 for 15.
