Then you can do some hiking to Stol or others ways…the owner Janes is very generous! He is very friendly and the time we spent with him is very appreciated! ! Good for tourist from Czech! Because our daughter had got the summer job here 👍 affordable prices, clean and tidy house, dog friendly, nice welcoming people, good beer spirits and fresh made tasty and local food. Also a very nice garden. a little hard to reach by car but totally worth the effort. TRUST ME, YOU ARE MISSING THIS PLACE IN YOUR LIFE. The owners are VERY welcoming, they helped us in planning our trip and they even let you spent another night (which you will want to stay after the first night). Clean bedding, secure rooms with electricity output and many variabilities in bed amounts. Plus you can get food in their restaurant when u come in the evening. The place is amazing! Very nice, clean, hut with very friendly staff. Great food and location also. Ideal for starting the Stol hikes. To get to the hut by car you need to pay 10EUR ticket to get the bar open and then there's ~7km gravel road. Amazing location in the nature. Good start for hikes to Stol. Service was very good and lovely food, all homemade! 11/10 overall experience. This mountain lodge is located on the slopes of the alps with incredible views and walking/biking tracks in every direction. The owners and their staff are incredibly friendly, and they serve delicious home cooked traditional meals and cold beer from the tap. I came with some friends at the tail end of a several week long trip through Europe, and this was by far my favorite place. Due to the remote location, the road, mostly gravel, is impacted by erosion from heavy rains and needs to be repaired continuously. The city council, therefore, has a toll of 10 EUR for cars passing up to the lodge. The owners can not impact this, but if you are staying several days, they might be able to lend out a staff card like they did to us. It is 100% worth paying a small fee to keep this beautiful place accessible by car and this awesome alive. From here, you have access to most of Slovenia and parts of Austria/Italy by car, most notably the Triglav National Park and the picturesque town of Bled both within a 30-minute drive. I will be back! Otto If you are a tourist traveling by car, take into account that in July-August you will have to pay an additional 10 euros for each entry via the forest to the shelter, as the is quite winding and steep. The place is located in a beautiful area, comfortable rooms. A very cosy and welcoming establishment with very friendly and lovely staff, who were very helpful. Check in was flexible. I recommend the hostel very highly. Prices are reasonable. The rooms are basic as is usual in mountain huts. But they are clean and well-kept. You can also have a private bedroom rather than a dorm, for not much more money (this is what I did 😄). There is running hot water, clean bathrooms with showers and toilets. The hostel is wooden in an attractive rustic chalet style, but will modern(ish) renovations. Food was home-cooked, and fresh. The ričet was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere is welcoming and this place is popular with Slovenians. The location is amazing. The hostel is nestled within thick forests over 1000m up upon the mountain slopes of Slovenia’s Karawank mountains (gotta love that name), near the Austrian border. You need to drive up a long gravelly winding and hair-pinning up to get to the hostel (in the summer there is a toll). Once there, you have plentiful hiking opportunities. Just a short walk through the forest will bring you to a viewpoint to look upon Lake Bled, puddle-sized below you, and the jagged teeth of Triglav National Park on the horizon. The hike up Stol mountain is very much recommended (it’s quite tough though - 1200n ascent). Views are spectacular.
