The lady in the office was giving us lots of tips on places to visit (and not visit because closed) also places to eat. The was throughout with a couple of bits of the covering needing sticking down . The hot tub was amazing with stunning views and quite private. I think the hit tubs could do with a canopy of some sort (we used the patio umbrella to stop being hit by acorn falling). It was nice and cosy with the fire on (even if just on picture not heat) watching out the patio doors at the gorgeous sunsets. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR DEFINITELY. We had weekend recently on arrival we were escorted by a lady to our she showed us how things worked and explained hot tub controls and rubbish drop off she was super nice and friendly. Lodge itself was really spacious very clean and tidy towels and bedding provided and kitchen had everything you would need for cooking during your including welcome pack dishwasher and washing machine is dog friendly too Outdoor area is gated so perfect if you have a dog as we did and hot tub space is very private. Enjoyed a 3 night recently. Accomodation was of a good, clean standard and all staff very friendly. Hot tub was a nice bonus too. Plenty of quiet country roads to take our dog a walk and not too far a drive for local amenities. I wasn't aware of a £200 security deposit required for staying in a Kirkton, but may have missed this in the correspondence tbh. Wouldn't hesitate to return. The was lovely, very spacious and yet cosy. The hot tub was the best we've ever experienced. Sean and Linda were wonderful, answering questions and fixing problems as well as going above and beyond to help us when we needed something. quiet park close to lots of visitor attractions within Dumfries and Galloway. Spacious lodges accomodating up to 8 people. Lodges are clean and tidy and are equipped with everything you could need for your stay. Hot tub was and warm and a delight to relax in. This is my second here and will definitely be returning. The cabin was when we got to.it but the greeting by the manager Shaun was less than pleasant and very off putting. We were referred to signage that was not visible and berated!!. He then appeared at the cabin without announcement early each morning to noisily attend to the hot tub and on the last day was there again at 8am emptying it even though check out is only 10am which is already early. Such a pity the rest was lovely. On arrival the host took us around the Kirkton and shown us how to work the hot tub etc and all the facilities. The was very comfortable, spacious and airy. Even though it was a quiet park , it was in an ideal location to explore the Borders, and Dumfries was only 10- 15 mins drive . All in all we would recommend and place to chill out Pros: Beautiful country roads and scenery to admire The park itself is very visually appealing Large cabins with a lot of space for a big family (of 7) Hot tub was nice, we had a view of the fields and the hills and it was and warm. It has built in seats to make it even comfier Dishwasher & washing machine, lots of appliances to home cook TV’s in most bedrooms and living room Comfortable beds Nearby, plenty of food stores and places to visit - it’s not a long drive to many big cities with more activities to do during the day Relatively quiet & peaceful park, didn’t hear a peep out of the neighbours. Cons: One set of keys £200 security deposit Grim & unclean decking - it rained a lot making it even worse but to start with it was green and covered in bird poo & even squirrel I believe As soon as we walked into the cabin, it absolutely reeked of dog urine Every-time we would come back from a day out there was a very foisty smell in the air that would be hard to get out Leaky boiler One of our showers was hard to set a safe temperature - either scalding or freezing One of the bathrooms had a bath except the trigger to use the tap instead of the shower head was lodged so if you wanted a bath you had to run it using a shower head - which makes the room extremely steamy Rips in the wallpaper Old and worn furniture Terrible oven, no information how to work it - took forever to cook meals - no information how to use anything other than the hot tub Hot tub always had debris and bugs in it, even when we first arrived it was dirty Mold in the corners of all the rooms - presumably, intentionally hidden by the beds Damp, foisty rooms. Even with the window open it felt humid and damp - uncomfortable Lots of bugs such as midges and flies around Little privacy using the hot tub, if someone’s window is open they can see you in it clear as day - regularly had to close curtains to give the neighbours privacy Some doors required a lot of effort to open, and light switches too Confusing layout of bathrooms - both double rooms were en-suite. Except, there was only two bathrooms. So, there was two doors into each bathroom. With both open it is like a labyrinth. Just very inefficient and confusing layout Overall, it is nice for a holiday but for a £200 deposit you’d except the cabin to be in a good state and no mold. That’s a health and safety risk. Especially since a small child was staying here too. I enjoyed my but there is definitely some elements that need to be looked at by the owners and care takers.
