Lovely meal served by very attentive staff. Had the lamb dolcha, butter chicken , goan chicken curry, sag aloo and dahl. All very good. Went to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was my first time there so I was looking forward to going. I was very disappointed. The service was very poor. The drinks orders had to be taken 3 times, twice by the same waiter, before any drink arrived. When we asked for water, we had a jug, but no glasses. When the food did arrive after a VERY long hour and a half wait, the order had been mixed up, so 2 of the group had to wait yet again. The food itself was lovely, but it did not make up for the total lack of service throughout. I left disappointed. The Burj is a good choice for Indian cuisine. The is set in the peaceful village of Wanborough, just outside Swindon. The blends traditional charm with a modern dining experience, making it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, all prepared with rich flavors and quality ingredients. Every dish is beautifully presented and tastes fresh and delicious. The staff are attentive, friendly, and always happy to recommend dishes or explain the menu. The countryside location adds to the charm, and the outdoor seating area with garden-style benches is perfect for a relaxed evening. Parking is available on-site, which is very convenient, and the entrance is step-free, making it easier for wheelchair users to access (though it’s always worth calling ahead if specific facilities are needed). The itself is clean, well-maintained, and inviting. The price is reasonable. Environment and atmosphere is praiseworthy. The hygiene is also maintained. We dined in the Burj in late July. We had pre-booked a table a few days ahead so can comment about availability if you visit on spec. There three of us with one being a vegan. the menu is quite extensive and was able to cater for our vegan diner with several choices available (vegetarian options as well). Service was polite and responsive. Didn't have to wait very lomng for our foods but the waiter warned us there was a big group coming in so he got our orders done quickly. The dining area was spacious with a decent distance to other diners. A steady number of people were coming in for takeways showing the popularity of the restaurant. The food was good and up to a high standdard. Portions were generous with two of our diners taking some of theirs home in plastic containers provided by the restaurant. One of the best Indian meals we have had. Food was superb backed up with excellent service and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended Don’t go on a Saturday! Our first time to visit this restaurant. You cannot fault the food, it was exceptional but what let it down was the service. There was no one front of house when we walked through the door. We waited but ended up looking for someone to check us in for our 7pm booking. Drinks, starters and main ordered quickly. By 7.30 we had finished our starters. 8pm came and went, 8.15, no sign. All we could see where the takeaways going out the door. It seemed they prioritised them rather than the customers in the restaurant. We asked a member of staff how long; there had been no contact or apologies for the delay from anyone. 8.30pm the mains turned up. Excellent food, so good we couldn’t eat it all. Asked for it to be bagged up, they gave us one tub and bag to do ourselves, no problem. When the bill came, just under £90 they had charged us 50p for the takeaway tub! Icing on the cake! We are currently down for a visit from wales, celebrating our second wedding anniversary. We also came for the weekend last year and had a lovely visit to the Cotswolds. My husband and I had a meal with you last night and we thoroughly enjoyed. I had the lamb rack, which was divine and my husband ordered 2 curries 😂 he ate both (his treat day). The food was served quickly and was very hot. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The only reason I am giving the atmosphere a 4 star, is because of the noise from a group of English people on the table, the language was awful and they were talking about Poop while people were eating. I find, that some English people can be very rowdy and like to be heard, but that’s no fault of the restaurant. Some people just don’t have respect for others eating around them. Maybe you could open this in wales. We will definitely be back. Thank you for your wonderful food and services Booked a a large table for 24 for my wifes birthday with family. The staff and surroundings within the were fantastic and catered for us all including children. The food and experience was lovely and we will definitely be returning.
