We had a wonderful morning here. There's lot's of free which is easy to find. The cafe by the carpark has lots of choice and nice cakes. The is well presented and has an audio description in each room, which makes it easier to understand. Had a chilled time in the garden, it's not the most well maintained but has some interesting plants and lots of benches. Great and walking paths. Lake has a view of the and there's a great for all ages of kids. The high wire adventure looked popular, though I do think it's a little pricey. Nice cafe. Overall, a place to spend time My wife took me to this place on my birthday as it was not far from Bristol and has got lots to offer from parkland walk, Museum, House, Cafe, Hotel, Garden, Lake and Church. Basically they got everything that you need. You can even bring your own picnic and do a barbeque. It's a historic estate and a great destination for a family day out. They have ample space and you can even for a whole day under £5. There are no entrance fee, except museum. Cafe and hotel offers breakfast, lunch and snacks. It would have been better if they would have some animals on the ground. This is a wonderful to suit all kinds of needs, from children, to adults to small or big groups. It is also good for those with mobility probmms as it has wide flat paths. I liked that you can book a bbq on the large field, stroll to the lake, on the fields or playground. Or even the museum. The is ample but I walked through a forested memorial to get to the and left by foot a different way. Well worth the visit. The cafe and ice cream were good. There’s also toilets… a bit old but clean and functioning. Dogs have to be kept on a leash, and cannot go into food premises. But they do sell dog treats. The ice cream shop was very reasonably priced, delicious and value for money. My dog had a good day! Also the @Artpass gets you into the museum for free! We used it as a stop on a the way to Wales as it is only a 6 minute detour from the M4. Loved our first here and we will definitely return to spend more time wandering around especially visiting the House. We stopped off on our way back up the M4 heading to Surrey on Monday the 11th of November Remembrance Day It was a pure chance and as we walked into the to have a look around we were greeted very warmly by a Couple of Ladies who handed us the order of service it was then that we realised that they were holding a Remembrance day Service The lawn border had been completely taken over by memorial crosses from the British Legion as can be seen from the photos The Top had memorial crosses with the years and photos of the dead attached We stayed for the service and it was a very humbling experience when sharing it with all the immaculately behaved young school children especially when they were reciting the poem about the reason why a mother was wearing a poppy. The respect that the children showed during the silence and the playing of the last post was truly humbling and for us a joy to be invited to take part in. Having attended many remembrance day parades and services throughout the years this one will never be surpassed especially when we didn't have a clue that it was happening.. Our heartfelt thanks for the invite and allowing us to pay our respect for all the war dead go to the Ministers and the Priest plus the School Children. A memory created by chance and never to be forgotten.. In addition to what we experienced we also had the pleasure of meeting a gentleman who was paying his respects to the fallen and to his Grandfather who was killed at the Somme whilst serving his Country in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. Lydiard offers a charming escape, with expansive grounds that come alive in the summer months as families gather for picnics under the sun. A tranquil lake graces the landscape, though it’s more ornamental than inviting for swimming. The Lydiard Museum, while splendid in its preserved elegance, had only a handful of rooms open during my visit, which made the experience feel somewhat limited. Similarly, the beautifully maintained garden, though delightful, may not fully justify its modest entrance fee. Practical amenities such as ample paid parking, clean toilets, and an on-site café make the convenient, and the presence of a historic and a fenced paddock with ponies adds to the park’s pastoral charm. All in all, Lydiard is a place to while away a few peaceful hours. Stunning location for a buggy friendly family day out! Highly recommend a visit! We accidentally landed here on Race for Life day so there was even more going on than usual but still with lots of quiet places to enjoy ☺️ It was 16 Aug 2023. Its special experience to stay overnight in the Park. Very relaxed. I stayed just one night. If I come next time, will stay two nights. We visited the house, garden, and had lunch and an ice cream at the coach cafe. We didn't realise there is a smaller car near the so parked in the main car next to the children's - none of the machines were working. The Coach Cafe has a bog standard menu - sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc - but nicely done and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There's outdoor seating on both sides of the building - bench seating - and both sides are wheelchair accessible. The museum is all on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. There are accessible loos in the house, in the Coach Cafe and by the children's (but these were very grotty). The is wheelchair accessible and clearly an early summer as there was very little in flower when we visited in early August but they had a great collection of apple trees. It's not a kitchen - instead there are flowers and apple trees around 4 lawns. The is wheelchair accessible but you can't get everywhere - just up and down the main aisle. The children's and the nearby cafe are understandably very busy and noisy, but the near the etc is much quieter and calmer. A park! We visited and camped during the Hot Air Balloon festival. It was so interesting, enjoyable and well organised! Lydiard in Swindon is such a beautiful escape! The parkland is so well-maintained with walking trails and plenty of green space to relax. Perfect for families with kids or anyone wanting a peaceful day out. The historic and add a nice touch to the - really interesting to explore the local history. The lake is particularly scenic and great for a quiet walk. Love how spacious everything feels here. Great place for picnics, dog walking, or just getting some fresh air. Free is a bonus too!
