Excellent place at the beach. Parking can be limited but plenty seats and tables inside. Food was way above what I was expecting and service from the lady was above and beyond what you normally get at most places. Food was perfectly cooked and quality of ingredients was high. They also have a toilet here as well. Would definitely come back again. Well run and clean place. What a lovely place! Food excellent, fresh and hot. Imaginative menu. Easy parking over the road in the Cresswell car park. 2025 update: Still very popular VERY popular with lots of well behaved dogs..and their owners. I think it's under new management, certainly more staff, all youthful, cheerful and competent. Particularly barrista (I'm not a expert, but this americano was spot on, decent strength, hot, and very tastey). We were there for a family get-together before a on the beach, 3 dogs two grandchildren their mother and her partner. Everyone satisfied with their drinks (including the oatmilk coffee..) ditto their small, as in not a full on meal, snacks; ncluding our glutten intolerant grandson's cake, Sunday dinner....in a bun, a really hearty broth, a scone and cuppa tea, and a bacon sarnie. I have to say (I know comparisons are odious but..) it's no longer cheap, although still cheerful. Total cost...OK there were 6 of us but..the total cost (over £12 a head) was more expensive than two superb three course 'lunches' and and drinks at the Cook and Barker Newton on the Moor..but it's horses for courses, and for; a pre/post (on an excellent beach) hostelry, with a huge menu of old fashioned fare it's pretty much unbeatable. 2024 uodate: The Drift has expanded significantly since our last visit, early in 2023 more than doubling it's outside facilities. Despite it being 2pm the inside café was , and so along with 4 or 5 other couples we sat outside on the wooden benches. We've had a lot of rain, and sadly the benches need revarnishing as they're very porous. It was like sitting on wet blotting paper. We could have gone in the recently acquired double decker, but it is very basic, so we opted to stay outside. Lots of dogs and owners both inside and outside this is a truly 'dog friendly' café. However, our coffees and warm cheese scones were brought out within 5 minutes, and despite warnings that anything from the kitchen had a 30 minute wait time our grandson's pulled pork toasted wrap was only 5 behind the coffees. Quality as always (We've been visiting for more than 10 years now) excellent, honest, tasty offerings, at a reasonable price. Despite wet seats we left well satisfied with our warming drinks and very satisfactory snack. A cozy cafe close to cresswell beach. Have much table inside and outside. A amount of cakes and meals for you to try. Small dog cafe near the beach. We often visit here after a dog walk, it's the only choice near by, literally. They just seem to struggle with service all the time, very common to be waiting 30+ for a (when the machine isn't broken). The are nice, but always on the back foot as they spend their time apologizing to patrons for the wait. They are now taking reservations. I love this place! It's so chill, the service is great, and the food is really good. I totally recommend it. My favorite is the with the cheese scone, and we always grab a to go because we're usually stuffed after the broth. I had a pot of tea, a sausage sandwich, emergency teabags (as I’d forgotten mine for my caravan holiday) and some Bakewell tart to takeaway. ❤️😋Friendly and dog inside too. I bought a dog sausage for my dog for being a girl. We’ve just had another fortnight at Druridge Bay and so visiting The Drift Cafe was a regular activity. As usual it was fantastic, the food is excellent, the so warm and we can’t fault it. To the people giving bad reviews based on the price, you really need to get out more as their prices are normal and reasonable. To the people giving bad reviews based on surly and unfriendly staff, I’m afraid that says more about you than it does about them. You get what you project perhaps if you go in there a little less demanding and entitled people would be friendlier to you, think about it. We spent a lovely afternoon at the Drift Cafe in Cresswell. The were so pleasant and put up with us very fussy ladies, making sure we were happy. The homemade gammon and cheese and chive scones were delicious, highly recommended especially on cold winter days. Definitely worth a visit. Dog inside and outside Delicious cakes and drinks. Haven't had the hot food from here yet but will be back. Ideal location. With free car park nearby then straight onto the Beautiful setting for a great cafe. Food and drink options superb and great service. Went on a really busy day and still got served quickly. Recommend corned beef and potato pie best I have ever had, Bob Mortimer would be very happy to have it. Friendly. Dog friendly. Awesome food - gammon for breakfast is a real treat after a “bracing and fresh” along the beach. Hard to see how it could be better! Prices are shocking!! £6.50 for beans on toast and £12.50 for a below average full English with tinned tomatoes! Had to wait for the member of behind the counter to finish their conversation before they came to serve us! Helpful location for those walking on the beach. Very staff. Soup was delicious but cakes are quite sweet. Overall a great place with lots of choice for a full lunch or just a snack. We arrived and ordered and paid for and cake. A waitress came over after about 15 and said the machine is off . We could have chocolate instead, so would we like to join the queue and reorder. We said , no thank you, just change the order on the piece of paper. A guy then came over (another 10 ) to say the machine is off, the waitress is upset and would we like an alternative to the coffee. We said we’ve already ordered chocolate. He said you can’t have chit, only filter coffee. We said ok, we’ll have that. After about another 10 minutes, yet another guy came and said…..”the machine is off, and plus you like an alternative? We recounted the above, and said, if it doesn’t come soon, the might well be out of date by the Tim it arrives. Eventually, our caffe and arrived, but no refund for the filter coffee. I hope the and for the bikers night is less eventful. We've been meaning to visit for a while now but tend to go further up to druridge. Had a lovely on the beach, then popped over the road to have lunch. Really enjoyed our visit....food great....other half really enjoyed his vegetable and my cheese toasty and salad really tasty. Very dog which is a bonus. Staff and efficient....served by a canny young lass and then Ian cleared our table as we were leaving....we had a chat with him. We'll definitely be returning!
