What a beautiful spot. On the way to the mountains. Lovely fishing spot - permits required. The peace and tranquility is sadly ruined by idiots playing load music on the edge of the reservoir. Otherwise - the scenery is perfect. Well described signs and local information boards. Parking nearby. Well worth a visit. Great looking reservoir. It has a dam approx 100m long with a castlinated turret lake control house and a large spillway to the side. it is possible to around it when the water is low, though with caution as the reddish mud on the north part is slippery and has small streams running through it. There were herons fishing alongside the anglers, occasionally swooping low over the still waters. A beautiful around the edge of this reservoir. The day we went was stunning, almost surreal and very dreamlike. The water was silent and still and the ground was damp and glistening. Highly recommended if you live nearby, and even if you live further afield come and visit. Just next door to the visitors centre for a snack and drink once finished! Easy to access of the a470 not massive amount of parking but no issues for us plenty of shade benches and spots didn't see any bins minimum litter around the reservoir We came here specifically to see the bridge as the water had receded significantly the to the bridge took around 15 mins from carpark but could take longer its a great and you could easy spend a couple of hours here would would to come back once it's filled up and get the other perspective Free parking. Lots of spots with tables/ benches. Open areas & wooded areas for shade on hot sunny days. Can complete circuit around reservoir, parts on quiet back road. Not far to the mountain centre which has cafe & toilets. Lots of walking in the area & close to Pen Y Fan. Nice place to visit, big circle around the reservoir, lovely views over the water. Small parking places dotted around, plenty of information given. Nice to stop for a A stunning place to unwind, anglers quietly go about their business in a setting that is bustling with the sounds of nature. Laybys are dotted around for parking one has a burger bar with hot and cold snacks with a area. Stunning resivour, great views. Easy around there. Definitely worth a visit. Freelancing is a bonus. A place of outstanding beauty all year round Absolutely stunning walk. There are plenty of off tracks to to the edge of the water, so there are lots of drinking opportunities for thirsty pooches. If you love being with Mother Nature, this will not disappoint. It took us around 2.5 hours to complete, allowing for photo opportunities and the odd 5 minute rest. Depending on your starting point, you will have some B road walking, which was easy with hardly any traffic. Dog walkers BEWARE...what they don't warn you of is some of the entry and exit points along the road are styles and if you have a large dog, as we do, you will not get your dog through and you'll have to double back. This was very frustrating. Highly recommended though. it was really quiet. i underestimated how big this was it was huge lovely spot Absolutely stunning place A lovely place to stop to relax by the reservoir, there's benches and a food trailer that serves hot and cold drinks, cakes and pastries and amazing sandwiches, wraps and salad bowls. The coffee is fantastic and they take card and cash payments...
