Sajazarra is a beautiful, tranquil and quiet in the La Rioja region. It was voted the most beautiful in Spain in 2017. The has one restaurant and it is huge. When we went there were a few people but I imagine it can get busy when the tourists come. The food is typical of the region and we enjoyed it. It’s a bit on the expensive side but well worth it. This is the first restaurant we’ve been where they actually bake the bread on site - it was warm when they served it to us! Walk around the small before or after your meal and enjoy the surroundings….Highly recommended. A very good traditional restaurant. Most of the dishes freshly cooked on an open Bbq. I chose the menu Riojano which was delicious. Spacious outdoor seating. And very friendly staff. Lovely traditional cooking over a blazing fire in an unspoilt complete with remarkable public artwork on many buildings. And a castle as well! Not to be missed by anyone who loves Rioja. Local hub which covers all food and drink needs. We enjoyed coffee and delicious croissants and on our evening visits the very tasty menu. We also bought croissants to take away on occasion. Located in a charming in La Rioja. Food offered is limited to a few tapas, a Menu del Día with a fixed starter and about 7/8 main options, plus a few a La Carte options. Some of the dishes, cooked in an open fuelled by vine branches, are very tasty, although a little rustic, notably the morcilla (black pudding), and the meat cuts. But everything lacks finesse, most dishes served with no garnish or vegetables, and a tendency to undercook. We ate there two nights while staying at La Posada; the first night we made good choices by chance, the second night not so good. So a very mixed experience. If staying in the area, there's not really any alternative other than going into Haro. Went there twice. Cute little and a wonderful family-style restaurant at its center...which also acts as the heartbeat offline the town. Large outdoor terrace with lights, great for the kids and our dog. Chorizo and secreto are recommended dishes! A culinary gem in this small village. Outstanding local cuisine with great pricing of the local Sajazarra reserva wine. We had the Ochavo menu for lunch. Nice, with perfect service. I could take a look at the wood fire in the kitchen, amazing!! Well done chef.
