Another place that doesn't update opening hours on Google maps. It said it was open. We went out of our way just to find it completely closed. I've eaten here many times and they never disappoint. Fine wine, lamb chops, and salad all sourced locally. The installations are in an expanded but very old structure rustic but very comfortable. The service was very busy but attentive. Splendid lunchtime spot in the tiny village of Tirgo, 10 or so minutes by car from Haro. We booked our table for 3 outside on the terrace for 2.30pm - which is the popular time to show up. Parking a little tricky as it's a very a very well patronised restaurant and very large family friendly, but we lucked out. While dogs are not actively encouraged, they were kind enough to allow our dog snooze beside us on the terrace at our corner table. Saturday lunch is a straightforward fixed menu with no choices - fresh wood grilled chorizo and black boudain to open, lamb cutlets with salad and red pimientos for the main. You can ask how you'd like your cutlets cooked. This was our fourth visit and the place was hopping. So make sure you book a table well in advance. Total came to just under €120.00 for three with 2 glasses of white wine and a large cana to start, mineral water and a bottle of La Rioja Alta's Vina Ardanza Reserva 2015. Ate Saturday June 3rd. Lunch. What a gorgeous restaurant! As you walk in, you notice how warm and wonderful the atmosphere is. The interior is kept traditional and charming. There’s a huge grill inside of the restaurant—yet it’s not too smoky. The service is friendly and efficient. There’s no need to ask to see the menu. Everyone orders the same thing: the set menu which includes morcilla (blood sausage), chorizo, pimiento asado (grilled peppers), cordero (grilled lamb chops), and nice wine from the region, of course! Everything was grilled to perfection. Get the homemade desserts to go with your cortado. We were pleasantly surprised by the total bill, which was about €17/person including desserts and coffee. Definitely will come back! You need to book ahead as we were told it was fully booked for Saturday, so instead we visited for our Sunday lunch. At present, it’s only open for Friday through Sunday afternoon. There is a waiter who speaks English but otherwise, it is locals who are their customers and only Spanish is spoken. You’ll need a car to get to Tirgo, a delightful small village with an excellent bakery too. Try their cakes! It’s an easy drive from Haro and this is a much better restaurant for lamb than Teretes, which seems nowadays only full of tourists. Here in Bodega Pimiento Restaurant, the place is full and buzzing with 3 generations of locals having a great time. The noise level went up as we were eating our delicious set meal of barbecued chorizo, morcilla, and Riojana vegetable dishes, followed by lamb chops and the most delicious flaky pastry cream dessert. There were limited other options. The wine we chose was 22euros and still the bill for two came in at under 100euros. Good service too despite them being very busy and being a waiter short for the session. Great place, great food and friendly service Everything was excellent! Worth the drive if you are not nearby! Friendly and welcoming staff and owners. very nice terrace. Lamb chops cooked over an open fire...muy bueno!!!
