Booked for 4 adults and 2 kids. We were given a high table which is unsafe for 2 toddlers. It seemed like a hassle for the waitress to move us to another table. About 20mins later another waitress told us that we only had the table for 2 hrs. We hadn't even ordered at this point. So we ordered the breads to begin with while we decided what to have as main. The waitress came back and pretty much reprimanded us for not ordering our mains and abruptly reminded us again that the table is needed at 8pm. We gave our order and waited about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Whilst it was tasty we didn't enjoy the experience. The steak came without the peppercorn sauce and tomato. 8pm came and no-one was rushing us out. There were also a number of tables vacant. We had driven 45mins to this restaurant and the best bit was seeing a ship set sail. The restaurant itself was clean, neat and somewhat inviting. Free parking at the back. The bar tender and other staff were polite and friendly. I recommend the food as we all thought it was tasty, just the service of a waitress spoilt it for us. Unfortunately we will not be returning. Large pub/restaurant with food. There is also a covered outside are. Plenty of parking. We chose to eat here one evening because of the positive reviews about the food. We were not disappointed! We were really impressed by the top quality of both meals, one from the daily specials and one from the main menu. Highly recommended for quality and quantity. Having a good car park nearby was a bonus. I read the mixed reviews before coming here for the first time so couldn’t decide in advance. Whether it was going to be good or not. BUT the food was fantastic! I’m a coeliac and the food they offered that was Gluten free and not Gf for my wife was just spot on. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and my Beef was tasty and the meat was so tender. The dessert, sticky toffee pudding, was amazing. The place has a ambiance and service was also really good. If I had one moan it’s the Gluten free beer choice is the normal GF Peroni in bottles, rather than a Pint of something decent (think IPA or similar). If you’re not bothered with GF beer then this bar is well stocked and the outside courtyard is the best place in Larne to relax with a drink. Left feeling very happy with our choice of Olderfleet. 1st time in the Olderfleet and very pleasantly surprised! Spur of the moment decision to visit, had no booking but the staff found us a table very quickly. Excellent menu, servers were great, service was a bit slow though, but they were a couple of staff down, so perfectly understandable. The food was fantastic, not huge portions but perfectly adequate. When it came to settle up, somehow someone else's round of drinks had been added to our bill, I queried it and it was corrected in an instant. All in all a very enjoyable evening. We'll definitely be back! First time in the Olderfleet. Whilst it's position at the docks may not be very salubrious, both the outside and inside of the premises are nicely finished. It has a nice welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, I would be fussy about food especially Chowder. The large chowder I had was Very good, full of good quality seafood and very tasty. My wife's Thai curry was also very nice. All in all I would heartily recommend it and will return soon 😁 Had a fantastic meal here. Service was excellent food even better. Could not fault it at all. It’s a bar and a regular hangout spot for me and my friends especially on a Saturday evening. The only thing I’m sad to see is the disappearance of the Molson Coors draught lineup. I noticed that after not being at the Olderfleet for a few weeks and I’m going to assume the Olderfleet’s sister restaurants The Whitecliff and Five Corners have done the same. The revert back to what I think is the Diageo is a bit sad to see as the Coors was far superior along with the addition of those four Thatcher’s Ciders variants meant there was something for everyone and for me who doesn’t drink beer the cider selection of that was as it wasn’t just plain apple cider but there was a variety of different flavours. The current now is a bit disappointing and I hope a new draught comes through in the future, whether that is a return of the Coors or something new as the current is a selection of beers and a couple of ciders that mainly only an older generation of people would drink and the draught options aren’t really as appealing to other generations. I know my dream drink for the Olderfleet would be the Heineken portfolio that you can find at the likes of Belfast International Airport or the SSE arena where the big three are Orchard Thieves (my favourite Cider and quite a popular choice amongst many generations, especially in Ireland and on the mainland UK as most bars in Northern Ireland usually have the Diageo or Tennants supplier in this country), Heineken and Birra Morretti. Though of course there is cider and beer option loved my many across the UK and Ireland that not many bars over here would maybe like to have as a choice too such as Inches Cider, Old Mount Cider (especially the Berries and Cherries one), the newer Kopparberg Crisp Apple or any of the popular ones from that brand such as the Strawberry and Lime, Sxollie Cider, Outcider, Magners and then in terms of beers maybe options like Stella Artois, Peroni, Corona, Beaverton IPA etc. or to the be the first bar in Northern Ireland to have some of the Hawkstone range on Draught (such as any of their three ciders, the lager, IPA or stout) so there that is something for everyone rather than mostly Irish Lagers and only Apple flavoured Ciders on tap. I think a mixture of Irish, British and worldwide Beers and Ciders on tap would set the Olderfleet apart from other bars in the country in a way. Aside from that the Olderfleet is a bar at night time with DJ’s, very welcoming and friendly staff members and a bright and enjoyable atmosphere.
