We were supposed to stay in June but plans changed at the last minute so we swapped it for a little birthday trip, and so glad we did rather than waste the booking. (To note there was a £10 to change our dates.) It's a gorgeous hotel with a friendly old school feel, the were delightful and the was super comfy. Good shower pressure and pleasant décor. The (which was included) was excellent; we had table service and could choose anything from a continental selection, plus a full cooked (choice of full English, pancakes, and a third option I've forgotten) and juice, toast and tea/coffee, with no surcharge for anything. It added a lovely touch and we had a great time, just wish we'd stayed longer! Just had a lovely two night stay, the hotel and grounds were absolutely beautiful, the was cosy and spotlessly clean. The was substantial and made with high quality ingredients. All the we spoke to were friendly and professional, an asset to the hotel. We really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend. Stayed for a couple of nights whilst working in the local area. Clean well appointed room. Staff were very welcoming. I had to check out early - an hour before starts and the night before the asked if I wanted a sandwich wrapping up and leaving for checkout. This was very well received and appreciated, and shows the differences between independent accommodation and the big chains. I will definitely stay there again if the need ever requires it. Lovely staff, beautiful, quiet, part of the world. Has an old-style charm that I absolutely love. Felt very relaxed and looked after. was exceptional too. Great value. Will definitely come back when I am next in the area. Excellent hotel. Beautiful rooms. The employees make this hotel - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served from 0730 and is delicious. High quality and hearty portions. In June-July we stayed at the Old Rectory for 12 days and enjoyed and appreciated the service and accommodation we had. The were amazing especially Natalie who lugged my huge case up to our room. We always looked forward to being served by her at time. So helpful and cheerful, as were the other staff. The breakfasts were of an amazing standard. We were also able to have a small meal delivered to our at a short notice. Well done. The only small negative I have was the hand held shower piece which one had to hold to achieve an effective shower in the bath. May be this could be updated .Plenty of hot water though and the was serviced well. We were even provided with a large fan to cool ourselves overnight. If we travel again from New Zealand to this area we will again stay at The Old Rectory Wem. It was a great find on line.
