Excellent food and ambience! We arrived late on Sunday evening, and the roast was already finished ..which says a lot about how popular it is. We tried the burgers, and they were really good. The staff were friendly, and the place had a cosy and lively atmosphere. It’s a great spot to have nearby while staying in the area as travellers. Good pub. Nice staff. Lovely setting. I only had chips and a beer but both were good. Fantastic pub, came for a evening meal with the family at 5:45 and it did not disappoint. Beautiful food and good range of kids meals especially since we are veggie, atmosphere was superb, beautiful views and even had a play area for the kids! Only downside is it cost us £87 and we weren't even drinking. We had a lovely time though so if you can afford it, it's well worth it! After a nice walk around decided to call in for lunch and a drink. Friendly staff great service and lovely meal. Good selection of drinks. Definitely visiting again. Two course meal was our choice. 👏👏👏 Great country pub. Service was really good and friendly. Sunday Roast was one of the best we've had in a while. Lots of gravy and decent portions. Good menu size, with lots of options. Dog friendly pub too!! Definitely recommend if you're up this way. Lovely place with great staff! We had the Sunday roast which was fantastic , there was loads of beef and it came with extra dishes of veg... we certainly didn't leave hungry!! Highly recommended ! There's a large car park and kids play area if you have young kids. Moderately busy as we arrived around 2pm without booking. Greeted with warm service from waiters and the barman. Very formative and were given menus as we were seated. Ordered at bar and kids enjoyed nice play area while waiting for food. We came for the Sunday roasts so we ordered beef roast, two pork loin roasts and two children's meals. The beef roast I had was beautifully presented and tasted great. The others enjoyed their meals too. Vegetables came separate for the three dishes of roasts ordered so it gave it a homely feel dishing it out. We ordered two desserts. The crumble and the choc brownie. I had the brownie and thought this was delicious. Usually brownies can get too sweet and too stodgy but this was just right. My cousin enjoyed his rhubarb crumble. Tasty and finished off beautifully with cream. Overall recommend the food and staff were informative and happy. I would definitely go again especially for the brownie!!! 😊😊😊👍 A very dissapointing visit. I bought my mother in law for a (I thought) nice meal in the Bull & dog as I had before but we had the most horrid meals. The pie my Mum in law had was too salty for her to eat & the fish I had was definitely not cod, as it said on the menu....it looked more like fish finger filling, all mushed up. I complained..but with little response. I won't be eating there again...sorry.
