Small limited car park next to road of around 5 car spaces but usually not a lot of visitors. You have to climb the stakes for 5minutes to reach the top then walk around it takes around 30 minutes. Some information boards in the site. Enormous and quite incredible that it's survived from when it was built nearly 3,000 years ago during the Iron Age 800BC to 43AD. It's difficult to appreciate from ground level but there are excellent information boards to help you have an idea of life in it. Much of this comes from excavations in 1939. There's a small car park right next to the entrance. It would certainly take well over 30 minutes to walk all around it but worthwhile even just for the fine views. An extra interesting fact is that the locally born great WWI poet Wilfred Owen completed his army training here and as trenches were dug and explosives used, that has affected the features a little. A well used walking spot with interesting history. We used it as a nice spot to eat a packed lunch and didn't do the full walk around, but still found it interesting to see and take in. There is a small 'car park' by the entrance. We were the only people parked there but would only fit 5 - 6 vehicles. Requires a short drive on a single track road to reach if visiting by car. A historically significant fort in use for over 1000 years from the iron age onwards. Unfortunately, from a visitor perspective there is little to see or distinguish it from many other hills in the area besides the history. One really for completionists or fans of black sheep ! It's great to see something that's still standing from almost 3000 years ago - there aren't any constructions left per se, however the sheer mount construction is impressive. It is also a great place to come for a walk (especially if you live in the area) as it's got fabulous flora (last time we went there in April, there was a plethora of purple flowers and bright yellow shrubs (shrubbery!)). You can also see for miles and miles around you once you're at the very top. Stunning iron age fort but overgrown with bracken which hides the features of the ramparts A large historic with accessible path to walk around, great for exercise, dog walking and views of countryside surrounding Shropshire. There is a small parking spot at the main entrance gate (enough for ~4-5 cars), can get busy when weather is good. The is actively used as grazing/farmland by local farmer for sheep (gates to be kept closed!). Information display boards can be found here, for both the associated history (was once was an iron-age fort, today is one of the best preserved examples) and nature (e.g. local birds). A narrow country lane connects to Oswestry, in about/less than 1 minute. A nice wander round to see the history in the area, nice views, and some lovely goats to keep me company. Best on a clear day as not much to see. Wats dyke is the old dyke that used to run between old Oswestry along side offa dykes the more popular and longer routes.
