Part of the town's walls and fortifications, this gate is at the bottom of a beautiful and absolutely worth the walk down/up the hill to see both this section of the walls and local architecture. Free to visit but access is restricted. A lovely pathway and gate in the beautiful medieval city of Dinan. This old cobblestone is the main way to the port of Dinan from the city center. Walking through this is really taking you back to the old medieval time as everything, the cobblestones, the limestone brick houses, all still maintained in their original architectural facades and in a very good condition. A really gorgeous and romantic place! So lovely. Amazing walk from Dinan down to Porte du Jerzual , ancient houses , very nice kept , nice Channel with Restaurants and boats tour possible, enjoy a cup of coffee at the river... Jerzual is not for the faint of heart. It will get your blood going. Be ready for a lot of uphill climbing. There are some cute shops, including a really nice jewelry shop about halfway up right near this gate. There is a wonderful boulangerie at the bottom of the and amazing views. The rest of the historic part of town is at the top of the street. Definitely do this at least once. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is that it is very slippery when wet, which was often during the winter and spring. Beautiful medieval in Different Nan with cobblestones and loads of well maintained buildings made of wood. The fortified gate is one of the listed Historical Monument. Spend few hours here, it’s really worth it when you are around Very nice place to visit. Small walk from the city center to the harbour is very lovely and especialy the Porte de Jerzual. Beautiful town, good shops and restaurants. Well worth a visit.
