Delicious. Modern twist on more traditional taverna dishes. We particularly loved the grilled red snapper and desserts. Terrific menu and restaurant vibes Marathia in Tinos is a real culinary experience. The food is clearly locally sourced and presented with a lot of care. We tried a variety of – fresh with vegetables in broth, a delicate dish baked in parchment with herbs and tomatoes, and a local style salad with capers, cherry tomatoes, cheese and barley rusks. Everything tasted authentic, fresh and full of flavor. The wine selection is very good and the staff gave us great advice for pairing, which really improved the whole meal. Portions are generous but this is a place where you come for slow dining, not just a quick bite. For dessert we had a caramelised bread served with vanilla sauce and ice cream, which was unusual but really delicious. Prices are a little on the expensive side compared to other tavernas on the island, but the quality and creativity makes it worth it if you want a special meal. Deep knowledge about fermentation! Innovative and sustainable fermentation processes! Gastronomic experiences! We tried a variety of aged dishes, ball soup, local products (cheese, wild artichokes), and local wines. Highly recommended. The restaurant specializes in dry-aged and is likely the only one of its kind in Greece. The food is outstanding, offering unique such as dry-aged and cold cuts that are truly exceptional. Add to that the great location, excellent service, and impressive wine selection; highly recommended! Very pricey but the food is good. I think you can find places in Tinos that serve very good and “original” food and are not that expensive. It is next to the beach but in the context of a summer holiday the view isn’t that special. It is just close to the beach. We had some good but my wife’s cod was full of small bones that she had to pick from her mouth that resulted in a terrible experience. While they acknowledged this they didn’t offer anything to us to compensate. You need to be very particular about to go there. Not money well spent. Excellent location, appetisers and main courses very good especially the youvarlakia, seasonal vegetables salad and fillet in wine sauce and kritharoto. Dry aged plater mediocre too small and overpriced, could be elevated with a special sauce and some king of bread/cracker. The bread served was unacceptable for this kind of restaurant. Desert was excellent. Good wine list with excellent local wines. Overall a very positive experience! I have been visiting Tinos and Marathia for the last 17 years, and every single year there is always a new, tasteful dish that makes me look forward to coming back again. On this visit, the highlight was a 2kg fagkri – perfectly fresh, carrying the pure aromas of the sea. It needed no seasoning at all, simply delicious in its own right! We always enjoy the Greek meze philosophy and love sharing a variety of starters. This time, the seafood Caesar salad with homemade taramas sauce was outstanding – the taramas, made from eggs, was silky and mouthwatering. The seafood tartar with strawberries was a very interesting and refreshing addition. And of course, you should never miss the traditional cheese pita – a true classic! Of course the desert selection was in high standard gastronomy experience. The pumpkin desert is one of the reasons I will come back next year! Incredible Greek food. Staff were polite and helpful, explaining and the relationship of the food to the local farmers and seasons. It felt like fine dining and was reasonably priced given the quality. We ate there in mid October at around 6 pm. A few people came into the restaurant when we left. For the most part though we were the only ones there. If you like having more people around for ambience consider booking for seven pm. Sunset views whilst eating were amazing.
