This small, locally run equestrian center is managed by a kind and dedicated woman who has created a welcoming space for both, beginners and experienced riders alike. There are several riding options available, depending on your level of experience, and the tours are adjusted accordingly. We arrived in the morning, which turned out to be a great choice – the area was calm, and we were part of a small group. Unfortunately, one family in our group was rather unpleasant, but thanks to the natural riding formation (where follow one another based on their hierarchy), everyone had their own space and could enjoy the without much disturbance. The introductory briefing was very thorough. Helmets were carefully selected and adjusted for each participant, and safety was clearly a top priority. Once the group was ready, we set off on our ride. The tour lasted well over an hour and was enjoyable from start to finish. The path was suitable for all levels, and the pace was relaxed, allowing everyone to feel comfortable and confident. At €40 per person, the pricing was more than fair considering the length and quality of the ride. In fact, I would happily have paid a bit more, knowing that the additional support would help maintain this local horse farm. It’s evident that running such an operation on an island like Crete comes with challenges – from veterinary care to equipment maintenance, and the daily effort of keeping the healthy, fit, and happy. And happy they were! The looked well cared for, showed great character, and seemed to enjoy the just as much as we did. After the ride, they were promptly cooled down with water, had their gear removed, and were allowed to roam freely again. The overall care and respect for the animals was clearly visible. The young women who led the were upbeat and friendly. Some of them were working summer jobs, but they showed genuine passion and enjoyment in what they were doing – even though their task is far from easy. They guided the on foot the entire way, ensuring a smooth and safe for everyone involved. In conclusion: Zora’s Horse Riding offers a beautiful, peaceful, and professional riding in a natural setting. It’s a fantastic way to explore the landscape of Crete from a unique perspective, and a great example of a locally-run business that truly cares about its animals and guests. Highly recommended! Great horse riding for my birthday. It was well organised and the zen walk felt truly peaceful. Having only been on a horse once before I was quite anxious but the guides were awesome and the were amazing to and made me feel at ease. Would definitely recommend and go back again. My husband and I were there in October and we rode twice. I would highly recommend this place! They were so professional and accommodating!
