Even including the trip with the bus there and back from Rethymno, the takes 3 hours. so not very time-consuming Very peacefull monastery, since its inland, its not hit by a toursim heavily ,we met only few people there during the beginning of main season. There were a few rooms/object with a lack of information/ description. With a bit more info it would have been 5 stars. We went a few days ago (in March) to the monastery. I honestly didn't expect a lot but I was surprised how calm and this place is. The outside looks old/rustic but they renovated many of the interiors so you can get a feeling how it was back in the days. You can the main church, another smaller church, the dining area, the kitchen area and a little cell which was used from the monks, the and the gallery.
