We visited juts before Christmas, so we had the place to ourselves. Lots of small waterfalls, it was quite but I can image it’s a just a tourist trap with fish during the summer. Very beautiful place, full of green nature, trees, running waters and small falls! Really lovely place. Deep down into the hills, covered by lovely trees and then all these tavernas built into the surroundings. The are more features in restaurants, not somewhere you can go for a swim or stand under. Non vale la deviazione a meno che non si desideri mangiare. L'acqua è convogliata artificialmente per creare mulinetti, vasche, cascatelle. Nulla di che. Beautiful. oasis! Everything is green here. Lots of lovely to eat Η φύση στα καλύτερα της! Lovely area in the mountains of Crete. Get a train tour up there for €15. Beautiful scenery and fantastic photo ops. Definitely recommend. Good place to chill under the shade of the beautiful sycamore ( plain) trees while enjoying the many and some authentic Cretan food. At first I was disappointed, but with every minute I became more and more enchanted by the place, where made great use of the creek to create the atmosphere of mini waterfalls. It's worth coming here at lunchtime! Beautiful springs and waterfalls. Some great tavernas, fresh trout right from tank to table. Very place. A little bit too much of tourists but so nice. The sturgeon was still there in the aquarium Can't really call it springs, it's basically Tavernas with some features in each one. The Tavernas are good, even really good, but set you expectations: it's just a nice, shaded, place to eat. Really neat place to visit, a cool break away from the heat and some food and drink options. Visited on a day bus trip. I am interested in archaeology and history, so was disappointed to find nearly all the springs have been adapted to make for modern tavernas rather than following their natural path or even the Roman system which was extensive in that area. We found one waterfall that was older than the others. Saying this, the lower valley was lush and leafy and the tavernas had good coffee and cool shade which was pleasant. There is a fantastic old plane tree beside the church in the lower village and had we time to explore further apparently there are Roman rock cut tombs not far from the tree. The upper village is pretty and up some stairs beside the shops you can find a lovely mosaic floor from the Roman bath and a 5-6 metre portion of domestic Roman aqueduct. There is also a lovely little Byzantine church with an ancient and very productive grape vine over the courtyard outside it. Id recommend trying the local speciality drink, avocado and orange, it's much nicer than it may sound. Furchtbar. Dreckig, verlassen, vermüllt, teuere touri Lokale. Stay away from this place Worth a visit, one of the few places in Crete with in the summer 😂 literally like a desert oasis, and lots of cool fish to look at whilst there The springs of Argyroupolis are a hidden gem in Rethymno, blending natural beauty with a refreshing, peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by lush greenery and small waterfalls, the place feels almost magical, offering a cool escape from the summer heat. The sound of running creates a relaxing vibe, and there are charming tavernas around where you can enjoy traditional Cretan food right next to the springs. It’s perfect for a short trip from Rethymno town if you’re looking to experience nature and local culture together. Highly recommended for families, couples, or anyone who wants to enjoy a unique and authentic spot in Crete. Very place for a short walk. The big waterfall is inside the resturant, which is a bit disappointing. There are probably way better things to go for instead of this. Looks like a few, underwhelming, tiny "waterfalls" which seem artificial for the most part. not saying they are artificial, but the small scale and pipes running around really bums the experience. This place is for dining at the various restaurants, but don’t expect or anything scenic—there are only a few fountains scattered inside the restaurants. The photos on Maps can be misleading, seeming like a tourist trap to draw people in. Place with shadow to chill but nothing special. The "waterfall" may be considered a small fountain. Better approach the "big waterfall" further in the south. It's a place for a short hike up. There is a village on top with magnificent view. There are taverns with aquariums. There is a place for kids to play. A charming place, but! Don’t expect massive or breathtaking views. It’s a bit overhyped and feels more like a tourist trap aimed at getting people to eat at the taverns. Use it as a spot to grab a bite, but sadly, it doesn’t quite qualify as a real attraction.
