Generally i expect to see good beaches outside the cities, but this one is great as well. Really long beach, i walked around 4km and then turn around and get back but i think you can go even further. Sand is as well you can see that on pics i added. If you are not going around the island and you are more in the city, then this is good enough for sure. Rethymno and the resort itself is very popular. I am rather fan of empty beaches on the western and south cost of Crete, but Rethymno town is and there is plenty to do and see. The sandy is well maintained, clean, full of sunbeds you get free if ordering a drink from the nearest bar. As you can see on my photos, it may get very windy at the begining of October. It was windy for 7 days in row… no swimming, but it was exciting to look into the wild sea anyway. Recommended, especially if you prefer civilization and all inclusive vacation. The beds and umbrellas are affordable, some even come with drinks and food, but there is plenty of open space. A con is that I only saw one life guard protecting a large portion of the and the water here can be tricky with waves, so if you aren't a great swimmer it might be good to come with some props to help you in the water. We loved this beach, with kilometers of just sand. Perfect for a day on the beach, but watch out for the big waves on windy days if you have kids. The beds where free if you get something to drink or eat, at least the ones we tried. It's a great beach. It's very long and the water is nice. The reason it gets 3 stars is because it costs 10 euro for each sunbed, which for a family is not a one can visit often.
