Well preserved walls and inside with walking platforns, but no huildings, apart from the main tower Well preserved ruins of 13th century in Celorico da Beira. Nice to see it being used for festivals and local fairs. Great views from the top of the walls, but care must be taken as there are no rails to keep from going over the edge. A must visit location if you ever come to Celorico de Beiro. It's a very old historical in the centre of the town. It's free admission. The mainly consist of the wall, and a tower. There is not much to see, but there are signs explaining the history of it, which you will learn a lot from them. You can access to the to e of the wall. However, it's not for the faint hearted, as there is no safety guard and it's very high way. I do not recommend any children to go up the without supervision. Once you are on the wall, the view is breath taking. You can actually walk all the way round, taking in the full beauty that Celorico can give. Because I visited during low tourist season, there was no one there, and it was such a peaceful location to be in. I would definitely like to go again in the future. A lovely village with great views from the but take care there is only a low at the top and no handrails to get up the steps to the top. Also one section has no low to hold you back so not for the nervous or overactive children! top I'd give it 4.5. Was perfect for us. We had the whole place to ourselves for the evening. Took pizza for dinner and sat on the to relax, eat, and watch the sunset. Very cool to explore and venture, especially for ZERO cost and open 24 hours. You could spend 15min, you could spend 2 hours relaxing. Some may be disappointed that funds just aren't there for some of the upkeep. Signs and information boards faded or gone. Ants (it's a park!), or other things. But it is clean and it is free. Donate a euro if you have it. It's fascinating that the fort is some people's back yard, literally! Beautiful view and imagination of history. It's a place to visit, historic village. Good It says 24h, I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was closed. Looks like they are doing maintenance on it. No signs of when it will be open to the public again.
