Fantastic place! Be wary! You need to book the online and pay online. Yeah kinda stupid lol 😆 They won't accept cash or card at the start, so no phone service, no trail. There is wifi on route at certain stops and the maintenance is really good. It's point to point, so a lot of taxis will wait at the end wanting 15EUR to take you back. I haggled down to 10. 4 stars because of the complicated way of booking access to a Wonderful alongside Mondego river. It's a 12km from Caldeirão dam till Videmonte. Allow 4-5h so you can enjoy and contemplate the views. Bring comfortable clothes and shoes, water and snacks. There is several toilets throughout the path. There is transfer service from either way - 15€. Best time of the year for visit is winter-spring. Summer time is extremely hot. We had a great walk. Nice to have a pathway that is well thought out. Beautiful views and interesting history. is easy if you're ok navigating alot of stairs. We did this today. Due to low temperature, there was frost and some snow. There were some slippery sections in the shade as well. It was all quite exciting though. The is wonderful, really enjoyed it. The views and the wooden walkways are beautiful. We only discovered this by chance when we were in the area. This is a not to missed trail, which is 12km long. We started at the Videmonte, where there is a car park, and finished at the dam. The has everything from wooden walkways, suspension bridges and well signposted gravel sections. It’s quite a hard slog at the end climbing the wooden stairs to the dam 😥😥. We got a taxi back to the start, which cost €18. It's a 12 km trail, but you can turn back any time. I made to just past the suspended bridge and turned back, a total of 7 km, but the climb back up the stairs was a bit tiresome. Pretty good but with kids it’s really tricky.you can go till how much you can do and then go back.but it’s so tiring.do not recommend on hot days. A very well marked, informative, looked after and clean route in a beautiful natural landscape of waterfalls, mills, old wool factories and electric plant. The full linear is around 12 km along the Mondego river and valley, but there are two shorter family and reduced capacity versions of 2 km each. (See website) The full consists of mostly existing trails and paths, but also 6,7km wooden walkways (including plenty of stairs at the beginning and end of the - hard going up), crossing areas and at least 3 suspension bridges. The is open from Monday to Sunday 9am (09:00) to 5pm (17:00). We went on a Sunday at the beginning of November and paid 2,50 euros p/p on the website. There's a café at Mizarela bridge and a lovely picnic area with toilets and swimming area at Porta de Vila Soeiro (where you can also begin or finish your to cut out all those steps at the Caldeirão dam). We started from Videmonte (where we parked), and found that most of the way was probably more downhill and easier, except for going uphill from just after the Mizarela bridge and the steps to the Caldeirão dam.
