So much so I asked the head chef who made it to marry me and I think she's thinking about it 😍 While it’s not the most beautiful or well-maintained course, it was still very enjoyable with some views. However, the condition of the course doesn’t quite justify the price. Narin & Portnoo Golf Club It’s such a blessing to travel and play a course on a warm sunny day with a light breeze, and it sucks when course conditions are tough (and you bring your C game). I played N&P on July 25, 2021 during a rare heatwave and an even rarer pandemic. There was bright sunshine the duration and the wind didn’t pick up until the back nine, when it was about a one club consideration. More significant was the dryness of the course from tee to green. There was a deal of bouncing and rolling on the super hard fairways and greens, which is amazing when you gain yards on a drive, unless those yards lead into the rough, and you lose your ball, or your perfect pitch shot rolls off the back of the green, down a hill, and into the weeds. That’s the rub of the green, as they say, and today the green rubbed hard, the wrong way, a lot. The design itself is delightful. It’s the kind of course that has many memorable holes. The route winds around and over the dunes and offers several photo ready views of Narin Beach, the sea, and other places whose names I don’t know. I would definitely like a do-over here. There’s no time on this pass, but maybe some day. Enjoy your round. Everyone talks about Narin & Portnoo as a hidden gem — and it truly is. The stretch of holes along the endless beach is absolutely stunning and unforgettable. It’s a challenging course, well maintained, and without a doubt one of the most beautiful we’ve ever played in Ireland. This was our third stop on our golf tour of NW Ireland. The staff was very friendly. The establishment was card only/no cash so that made things a little less helpful to some. The course was interesting and had some nice views. The restaurant after golf was decent but I didn’t get the Irish charm as it was very modern. We were staying in the campsite next door. Booked dinner, asked if it was OK to bring dogs, we were told it was, no problem. We booked for 7pm, when we arrived we were told our dogs were not welcome (A golden doodle, and a Labradoodle). This place is not dog friendly. Worth the price of admission. The staff was five stars. The course winds its self along a peninsula that is bookend by two draw dropping sandy beaches. You work you ways up and then through the sand dunes playing above these two beaches for most of the round. Greens have movement and rolled well. Clubhouse serves food with a chef who is clearly passionate about what she is producing. Highly recommended for any North West golf trip. We played Narin & Portnoo on a glorious day last week. Our Caddie, John, added to our experience. The course was as good a links course as we have played in Ireland. The scenery is second to none. The pro Marty was warm and welcoming. He even express-shipped my rangefinder to me in Dublin when I left it behind. We will return! the fairway lines were unbelivable like just so good so i went out of my way to find what work animal was behind these and to my joy i got to chat to one of the greenkeepers.
