The entire church is carved directly into the rock, making it one of the three notable rock-hewn monasteries in the Muscel region. The monastery's jewel is a reputedly miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, one of the oldest in Romania, attributed to St.Luke the Evangelist, and brought by Saint Andrew. Beautiful small church build in stone A pleasant and peaceful place to spend your time and meditate. I recommend you to visit the monastery on a usual weekday, when it's not very crowded, so you can take a walk and listen to your thoughts.
