Very intersting monastery, with lots of history. The place is breathtaking, especially when we've just arrived and see the huge stone hill in front of you. Nice place to visit. Behind the monastery there are some stair that lead you on top of the stone where the monestery is carved - the up there is very nice. When you decent go to the right and have a look at the fish and the croxes - we were lucky - the owner of the coffee/restaurant, which told us he's local told us more about the story of the place. An exquisite place to visit, special in it s placement, amount of work involved and unfortunately degradation. It is stunning through.its simplicity and those years of carving in stone can be felt. The painting is degrading due to the humidity inside but paying attention you can see the beautiful details. I encourage you visit the area and hopefully explore this beautiful cultural heritage România has to offer. What I also enjoyed was the fact that there is a path that leads up the rocks that you can explore for yourself and you get a nice view. It is as simple as it is stunning this place. Also the drive there takes you through Mușatini a long village with stunning houses. I really like this area and this monastery is it's heart and soul. I have attached a photo that can help get an understanding of the you can get climbing the rock. Enjoy. De vizitat neapărat și căsuța albastră care se afla în imediata apropiere! An ancient church dated officially from1512, but possibly much older. A belvedere point. Great place to take pictures with a perfect light and colours balance. The old blue house right next to it has an amaizng garden with a "giant" and a small waterfall. Very unique church carved from the mountain. It is quite small and is authentic and special. The stairs to the top can be quite steep but give a good view. Recommended to visit. My experience there was great. There were no other visitors, and I arrived by the sunset time. You can go up on the main rock through some side stairs for a better of the village that is cute and quiet. There's no need to spend a long time there, but I found it pleasant to stay for some time enjoying the peaceful and silent atmosphere. The Ravenclaw Monastery (Mănăstirea Corbii de Piatră) is one of the many magical and mysterious places in Romania. Its existance was first documented in 1512. Some consider that the site, carved into a 30m high x 14.5m wide seawall, has something of the 10th century Byzantine style. Others suggest that because its entrance is camouflaged, a hatch less than 1m high, that the temple can be dated to around the 2nd century, time when Christians were persecuted. There are also historians who believe that the place is even older, and may even be a point of worship of the Dacians, the original people who occupied that region, dedicated to their god Zalmoxis. Foarte frumos, merita vizitat So amazing how people really stand on their religions and beliefs. Such an amazing stone church Un loc plin de energie! Very nice and impressive. Up 1 star...should have some indication for the climb pathway: does it take you somewhere, or is it just a top hill view? A truly unique find. This monastery, carved directly into the rock face nearly a thousand years ago, feels like a part of the landscape itself. The surrounding views are absolutely breathtaking, and the sense of peace within its ancient walls is profound. It's a truly special place that offers both incredible scenery and deep tranquility. Amazing and unique. Mural painting since IV siecle, nice and legends. Lots of fabulous stories. You should ask for a guide Interesant! It's so beautiful! The is AMAZING from the top, and I can't believe it's SO OLD and still holding! Inside, it's old but so strong. At the top, there is a cross symbolising Jesus. Overall, it was a great place. Beautiful. A piece of stand still in time, full of history. Peacefulness, beauty and a state of grace. In the silence, all questions get answers. Next door there is a small blue house at the feet of a fabled giant captured in the rock. On the other side of the road, a white house with a tiny prayer room, offers holy ointment for healing the body as much as connecting to the true spirit of this space helps heal the soul.
