Really like this spot. The main path around is very clearly marked, and there are numerous smaller paths that break off throughout. It can get quite hilly up and down around the full path. Good exercise. There is a small ruins in the back right, as well as old walls. Beautiful trees throughout, and you can go down to the water, although there usually isn’t a whole lot of water there. A nice place for a and at the car park you can stop for coffee and cake. Very nice native Irish wood Forrest. Well maintained paths but one section of the main loop by the boathouse completely unsuitable for people with buggies/wheelchairs/mobility issues. Some nice views over the water and some places for picnics on the south side. There are a lot of side trails that kids would like to explore, the main trail could do with some signs. Not much parking if you drive down to the entrance, maybe 6/7 cars max. Track in is very rough and buggies will bounce a lot. Great forest, hidden place, nice beaches, perfect to around Fantastic public facility. Very well maintained by authorities. Parking can be limited but there is ample parking in Bailick with a tarmaced and fenced walkway down to the if you fancy an extra 2km walk. From Ballick to the woods, one lap of the (on the outer perimeter) and back to Bailick is about 5.5km to 6km. From that I'd guestimate that the is about a 2.5km walk. It is requested that you keep your dog on a lead. Of course the "Leave no trace" rule applies. At the start you have to chose between two possible direction. Both goes around, just the other way. If you choose the left one, than you can take a visit in 5 minutes at the ruins of the old boathouse, and an abandoned ship. This is a refreshing woods, we all love it, especially the dogs. Not too long but full with beautiful old trees. Enjoy.🥰🌳🍄🌿💚 A clean, calm forest that is perfect for a both with a company and alone. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy silence and mesmerizing nature. Nice walk. However seems to suffer from regular spot for drinkers. Start of the was a tip, cans and bottles everywhere and the odd pool of vomit didn't bring to mind the idea of a nature walk. Improved drastically as we went further.
