Food was solid, plaice was well cooked but lacked any seasoning. Fish and chips were soggy. Sausage and mash again cooked well but devoid of any flavor profile. Left with the impression the goal was to turn tables over as quickly as possible atmosphere, very professional and 5 star food. This place was overpriced and not worth the hype. The burger and chips were good. The lemon chicken didnt have any lemon taste at all. The main reason for the low rating was the service. Our waitress gave us almost no to see the menu before asking for the full order at once. After that she'd return after long gaps of and rush off before we could finish what we were asking for. After another long wait, we ended up going to the bar to pay because we hear her tell another table that. Apparently she was supposed to bring us a bill before that. I'm not sure I've ever had a less attentive server. The wouldn't have been ideal in general, but on top of average food and high prices it wasn't worth the visit. After several years away, I was delighted to return—and even more pleased to see how much the has improved. The staff were welcoming, well-trained, and attentive from the moment I arrived until I left. Their professionalism really stood out, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was excellent—generous portions, high quality, and full of flavour. It's clear the kitchen takes pride in every dish. If I could offer one small suggestion: allow a little extra between courses. The food is so enjoyable, you’ll want to savour every bite. Fabulous food and atmosphere. I had the beef featherblade and it was exceptional. choice for kids with a kids and teens menu available for older kids. We were looking for a Sunday roast and found this restaurant by accident. It was and the best roast and corned beef we have ever had. The price was too! We ordered desert too and it was amazing. Don’t pass this restaurant. Go now! Delicious food here, the featherblade of beef is just gorgeous, is friendly and efficient. So difficult to find consistent restaurants these days so, glad to have this place nearby. One of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time! The steak and duck were cooked to PERFECTION, food was out super quick and so fresh. The prices are a little higher than the average restaurant in cork but the portion sizes definitely make up for that! all around We have been several times for diner to enjoy our favourite feather blade but this we went for breakfast - Saturday morning - and it really exceeded our expectations! The scones were very good and delicious! The cappuccino was great! The young lady attending our table was very professional and thoughtful with us and our 1 year old baby. The was way better than many dinners we previously had. Missing our feather blade dinner as the new boss (baby) is not a night goer! Despite walking in on a buzy Sunday afternoon without a booking we were looked after really well and enjoyed a drink while waiting (a short while) for our table . From start to finish the was 1st class , attentive , very friendly and extremely professional. The food was really good , very generous portions tastefully presented . In short a wonderful experience. Well done to all involved at The Elm Tree , it was our 1st visiting and definitely not the last Always a experience, The elm tree never ever disappoints ,top class service, top class food ,Megan the server met our every need on many a occasion. My family down from the North had a fantastic time. place, food, staff and atmosphere. I love it every I go. Celebration Ruined – Ignored, Insulted, Disrespected I organized a dinner for a close friend’s promotion, What should have been a joyful celebration turned into humiliation. Our server, Kenneth, completely neglected our table. Water took over an hour. Our order was forgotten, and when we asked for it to be packed, it was dumped carelessly. Dessert took half an hour to take, and food I was tasteless and poorly prepared. When we asked for the manager, Owen, we were told he was too busy and handed a €25 voucher. For a €100+ bill, this was insulting. As professionals, we know what respect and proper hospitality look like — none of it was shown. We deserved a sincere apology and proper compensation, not a token voucher that worsened the experience. This restaurant fails completely at basic hospitality. They ruined a special occasion. Never again. Horrible. I’d highly recommend the Elm tree to anyone looking to go somewhere nice especially for a special occasion! Staff were extremely friendly and such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food was A+ variety and tasted Devine! A big bonus was a teen menu such a idea! Can’t wait to return hopefully soon!!!! Thanks for everything…… Absolutely blown away by my meal at The Elm Tree. The beef was to die for cooked to perfection and absolutely gorgeous. Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I’m already thinking about the next I’ll be back! So many restaurants these days can be hit or miss, but this place is a solid 10/10 they’ve nailed it. And the service? Spot on. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole even better. Highly recommend.
