When we entered kind lady gave us candles which we could light there. The monument itself is a work of art. How it withstood time and weather is astonishing. The only reason i gave 3 stars is because when i went in and lit a candle for the loved ones saw the curator of the establishment take a bunch of recently lit candles and throw them to in the disposing bin. Not an act one dose in such a place or at least not when others are present. I know many will think me abject but i feel like in such a place one must show hi's best intentions not only the greedy side of one self! The itself is beautiful and well worth seeing. My only point of criticism, which led to the poor rating, is a very unpleasant encounter with the warden. I was reading the English descriptions in the when an older gentleman, the warden, came towards me shouting and repeatedly calling out "candle“. Although I signaled to him that I am not a Christian but have great respect for the place, he mumbled something in Greek and walked away. I couldn't understand his behavior and felt very uncomfortable. When leaving the church, I wanted to clarify what the problem was. However, he just kept shouting "candle." It was a very unpleasant experience and a shame for this beautiful church.
