The way up is quite dramatic by car, but it makes a hike and the views are spectacular when on top. The welcoming goats were a plus. The itself is not of great interest to look at. But the from there is great. Definitely the journey. And there is a little cafe just before the to stop off for coffee and drinks. But just to warn those attempting to get up here, you will need a 4 wheel drive. The is steep and winding. You will struggle with a normal car. Takes about an hour and a half if you fancy the walk from Kalimaki. The ruins are impressive and on entering the monastery, we were welcomed by a custodian. Feel free to leave a tip, water bottles were offered but we took plenty for the 3 hour round trip. place, walked up there from Argassi. Lighten up some candles for those who passed on. Climbed on to the top of mnt Skoros. It was a very day to climb. The monastery,or whatever ruins are left there,is nothing extraordinary to see. The from the top of the where the ruins are is exceptional. It's breathtaking and feel like the whole world lie in your feet. Beautiful! It takes about 10-15min with the car to get there from the main road, the ride is not enjoyable because it's a gravel and very narrow, but all once you reach the top. Very and mystical place. Not easy to reach as the way is full of big stones and therefore not very stable. I used the way starting from Agassi and I went up by foot, I would not recommend to go by car as the street is maximum usable for a motorcycle or quad. Maybe there are other streets from the other side of the hill, but from Agassi I would not use a car. The place itself offers fantastic view, but depending on the weather it can be very foggy and cloudy as it was during my trip. For the ones who love nature and animals it is definitely a place to see. A small special are the goats which are surrounding the building itself. We drove up to the of Sokos to visit Panagia which try remarkable how ancient it is and how old the icons inside the church…it was to read about the history of this and to see its very old icons and construction. Also enjoyed the panoramic of the zakynthos from on top of the mountains. It was a truly blessed visit Interesting historical place. If you go there by car DONT FOLLOW Google navigation. The was not accessible for any type of vehicle due to rain damage. Instead going straight, turn left, just follow signs. About 1km before the monastery, see ruins of with some wall paintings and views. You can also walk there about 4 - 5 km. Jusy before there is a refreshment place. If you are fit you can hike (250m) from the gardens on the rock with 360° view. Free entrances. This little gem is at the top of skopos , a great ride on the quad to get there 😄 Smuk tur op til Skopos og Skopiotissa - en kirke og et gammelt kloster i 545m højde. Another must-do hike on Zakynthos is the trail to the Skopiotissa Monastery. The entire route is beautiful, surrounded by nature, and once you reach the monastery, you can continue up to the peak using a rope. From the top, you'll be rewarded with a stunning panoramic over the whole island. It's definitely one of the places you have to see when visiting Zakynthos. A quiet place with almost no people. views of the wide surroundings. These are relatively well-preserved ruins of a small monastery. Free entry. The itself has been locked. The permanent inhabitants are the goats. A preserved monk's cell with furniture. A very and romantic place. It's the effort to climb up here. There's a makeshift sitting area under a huge old olive tree just below the where you can have a cool drink. Little open to public for free on top of the high (as usual in Greek islands). There’s an amazing viewpoint (perhaps one of the prettiest) just a minute hike behind the monastery. Luckily men came before us and open the door so we visit this place and saw it also inside. After us he left and close the dopr again. Anyway it is around as well. An amazing experience with stunning views... but be aware that it will take some confident driving on slightly rocky off sections with no tar. You can get there with a car, but it can be a bit bumpy. Also, if you're coming from the south or west of the island, take note that despite what Google Maps says, DO NOT try and get there from the west side (via Vrontonero Beach). You must go via Argassi side which is approaching from the east and heading west up the hill. It's a old set on a with amazing views. It's like stepping back in time. There's a guy who runs a refreshment stop near the top. We drove by it, intending to stop there on the way back, but when we got to the top, he arrived a few minutes after us and opened up the Chapel for us to go in and take some photos. It was beautiful. Then if you walk up the a little from the monastery, there is an amazing to the east. Despite the up the hill, it's a visit that is well doing. Great view, going. It's possible to get there by car, but it may be difficult when second car is going in the opposite direction plus not all the roads that google maps shows are open for car use This place is magical, well the journey! place, you can also climb the rock just behind the and enjoy the from up there. If you take the route from Laganas like we did, under any circumstances do not take a shortcut proposed by google maps, unless you want to climb a dried waterfall's almost vertical walls. Anyway this place is seeing;) Skøn gåtur op og ned. Mooi om even rond te kijken. Echt oude fresco's. Very place to visit and walk around, difficult to reach though as it is situated high in the mountains. Be careful driving! Makes impression Vista spettacolare We were skeptical reading all the reviews regarding the to get there. Luckily we didn't listen! Ok, it is a little off-road, but if you drive slowly and carefully, you can get to the top of the without any issues with a standard car. We were greeted by this typical Greek lady. She tries to speak a little English, very charming. This lady opened the doors to the church. Around the church, you can walk around and enjoy a fantastic of several parts of the island. We enjoyed our drinks and ice cream on the terrace under the trees. Follow the signs of Skopos mountain. See photos. Free entrance. Just have something to drink.
