Best in the Bovec area! Casa Monte is a restaurant a little out of town, some way up a mountain, in the middle of the woods. Very romantic. You can walk up there, but you can also drive by car. You get the best there. Real italian style, fresh from the wood oven. The owner is a really friendly woman with pepper in her blood. The waitresses are friendly also, attentive and very quick. Where out of at 6p.m. Saturday. Bad for business. I think they are only for "rich groups" its rly hard to be out of flower and salt. Suggest you go somewhere else and you will be treated better. Recomend village Žaga first restaurant is family business Pri Mostu. Second is new pizzeria at the end of the village via Nova Gorica its not yet on google. Lovely place, tasty pizza. If you dont know where to bring your partner, I highly recommend this restaurant. Prices were also fine for such a big pizza. What a pity! The location is wonderful, the are very good but it seems they don't want to serve the clients. We were welcome by an pizzolia unhappy to know that we had a at 6:30, ordered our at 6:40... but only got them at 7:40 ! The reason : "a lot of takeaway pizzas" But then why have a restaurant ? A food truck would do if take away comes before seated customers. And by the way... they don't take credit card and don't even have all of the 4 beers that are on the menu, only 3 were available. As we arrived (we didn't take a seat yet), I politely told the waitress that we don't have a and asked if they had place for us (4 or 5 tables were empty, but had tags on them). Out of a reason I couldn't comprehend, she immediately went into a shocking offence with us with an aggressive voice and look on her face, didn't even say hello. "We won't serve you, ok!? Understand!? We have an inspection, a market inspection and we can't serve you without reservation, alright?". We stood there in disbelief, turned around and left. It also looked like she pulled that reason out of her sleeve. In normal circumstances, I would never write a review without trying the food, I would always understand that they only accept reservations, I would like to believe (and try!) that the are nice, but this was really behaviour on another level. I also haven't seen any information that a is necesary. I don't know if they had any problems that day or if she had a bad day. Anyway, we were really put off from trying to come near that place ever again, even if were the best. If you still do want to go there, make sure to call first. I find it really hard to believe, this place has so many good ratings, especially when it comes to friendliness of staff, since our experience was one of the worst of all times. Perhaps it's due to not being foreign customers or just bad moon... but so far, we never had to leave feeling totally humiliated. Location of this don't-want-any-more-customers place is beautiful, as is all the surroundings - it has forest glade and the shadow of spruces, but there are only a few (3-4) wooden desks and benches and one or two plain picnic desks with chairs, and there are a few more covered, but the "nice" owner prefers to chase away already sitted guests as to uncover one of those.. It seems as this place is forced by google search for around Bovec, but be avare, that all the drive toward Casa Monte could be in vain. And, yes, we have read reviews here and followed the advice to make the - so we did try to contact them before our visit, but the published phone number was unavailable all the time. biggest disappointment so far.
