Rai Hut is such a welcomerelief after the long up the mountain. It's a hostel type accomodation. The have food and drink and it's so tasty. Prices are quite low but don't expect a big variety. The clear sky at night is exceptional as you can see the milky way so clearly. The toilets and showers are fairly primitive as they are designed to conserve energy and be environmentally responsible. The dormitories are bunk beds of 2+ per room and are very comfortable The scenery and views along the trail are absolutely breathtaking—it's a stunning route that showcases the very best of nature. The to the hut doesn’t take 3.5 as advertised; it’s more like 5 to 6 depending on your pace. Thankfully, the trail is well-marked. I nearly fainted from exhaustion on the way up, but reaching the hut was a relief. It was lovely to finally relax. The food served is basic and seems to change daily. Portions are small but tasty. Still, after climbing for nearly six hours, the pricing feels a bit steep—6 leva for soup and another 6 for a salad. The toilets are honestly terrible: standing-style and not well maintained. There are two showers in a single shower room, which could definitely use a cleaning. That said, the hot water was divine after such a long trek. Tomorrow I’m supposed to back down, so I’m really hoping the beds are comfortable. But to be fair, we’re not exactly off to a great start. All on all, it's in the middle of the mountains, there are beds, sheets, food, showers, some people love it!!! Nice place, food and drinks, acommodation a bit pricy but acceptable. We got what we needed and the atmosphere was nice! Only my suggestion is - instead of using plastic cups for tea, use regular cups and it will be awesome and to trash! But this seems to be normal in Bulgarian mountains. I love the and the views . Besides that you can expect poor food options and grumpy employees. The "Paradise" hut is located in a place, and from it you can see the "Paradise Splash" waterfall. The hut can be reached on foot from the "Panicets" area of the town of Kalofer. At the beginning of the footpath there is a large meadow where cars are usually left. Much of the route to the hut is not difficult. About an hour from the start there is a kiosk with a coffee machine as well as one with other drinks. Further on, about another hour along the path, there is a fountain with drinking water - "Mechata Cheshma". In total, it took us about 4 to the hut on normal walking with short breaks. GPS- 42.69633,24.93105 Wonderful place ! This is the most amazing hut for me. I have a lot of memories and every time I’m visiting I refresh all the nice memories. It is not a hotel, it’s not a hostel. It’s a mountain hut! All the supplies are delivered with horses - food, soap…everything! Because of this some of the luxury things which are normal for the world around big cities are missing. The mountain tea is delicious, the wild mushroom soup is delicious. The view is amazing. Highly recommend if you like hiking and if you are in the Kalofer area to visit it! It’s about of 5 walk. Thank you guys for your hospitality! One of the best mountain lodges in Bulgaria. It is an amazing place in which you can relax before climbing Botev peak. You can also use your own tent in front of the lodge. I recommend you calling at least two weeks earlier if you want reservation. They also offer meals in the dining area. Very basic amenities as far as huts in Bulgaria come, food choice isn't much but tastes good. Our first stay in the Balkan national park, a place to stay the night. Matrasses are thin, that takes some getting used to. The hosts were to us and not shy of trying to communicate around our language barrier (we don't speak Bulgarian). This hut is in a area and offers lots of seating in- and outside. And the Waterfall in the background makes for an amazing view. The canteen offers different soups, a kind of sausage/burger-ish patty, bread, salad and a yoghurt with jam (which was tastey). Nice view, you can even use a tent. Bathroom and toilets are outside. Showers open after 16:00, you can’t use electricity in the room except for lights. Rooms for 6, 10, 20 and you can have strangers for roommates. For a beginner hiker, it took us 6.5 hrs going and 4.5 hrs back. Can camp (tent) with toilet and food. view. The hut is in a very and is cleaner than most huts in Bulgaria. However, the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful which killed all other positives. The food was bad too and more expensive than other huts. Probably the worst hut owner who ever lived. He was very rude and grumpy. The soups were cold with barely anything in them. There was chalga party plus yelling until 2am, although everywhere says you need to keep silence after 2230. No toilet paper, no breakfast. The bed sheets were depressing. Terrible. Not sure what happened to the previous owner, but even the cant compensate for this one. hut and location. Food is simple but great after a day of hiking. Water drinkable at the hut. We were welcomed hart warming. The lentil and mushroom soups we both very nice. The yogurt with berries tasted as as the soups. We also noticed the lady was washing al the bedlinen. Very poor services, this place is awful to stay or stop. The hut is in and had nice history, but thats all. The staff is unbelieveably rude and unhelpful. We stayed one night here, booked and payed in advance. Prices were high and quality the lowest possible. Sopska salata was just cucumber and tomato and a piece of cheap cheese from supermarket for 8 leva - see the picture. Kebabce were taken from freezer and put in boiling water in the plastic bag. Everything had to be payed immediately with no thanks in reply. Staff was unwilling when we wanted to order anything, even when the hut was almost empty. Mushroom soup was salty water with few pieces of champions. They change the staff every 2 weeks so maybe you will be lucky with the other shift... I'm shocked. It's a area, but where I'm from, people in the mountains may look grumpy, but are always helpful and friendly. I arrived after a 6 hour and asked for a bed. I was jelled at and thrown out. Later i saw the sign: working time from 18:00 to 20:00. So the host is lazy and impolite and was not willing to answer a yes or no question outside of these hours. I decided to not wait until the evening to know if i get a bed or not and kept walking. I couldn't make it down before dark and had to sleep in the forest, which was scary because i saw bear dung and bear tracks all day while hiking. The next day i met some people down in Kalofer who actually stayed the night and learned from them that the host was the most terrible person they've ever met and the food was expensive and disgusting. This person wouldn't care if you die out there in the woods and i don't think he deserves living in this place. There are many other huts in the central balkans with nice people and eatable food. You should rather check out one of them. Всичко беше много хубаво, но хижарите са много сърдити и негостоприемни! Lovely cabin with great hosts that is above standard. What lets it down a bit for me is the food- limited choice and poor quality. Terrible hut, avoid if you can. We were quite late with our hike, so we called the hut around 5:30 to ask how the weather was and whether they think it would've been a idea to start the hike. No answer though, even after trying to call 3 times. As a mountain hut, you really cannot do this. Late-afternoon is exactly the time where hikers might get in trouble and need help. But in this case, you're left on your own. Moreover, you can expect a cold, rude and grumpy owner to yell at you for being late when you do arrive, after which he will give you sheets to a bed that could not have been cleaned. (I mean really, the mattress sheet is fixed to the bed, it cannot be taken of for washing.) The soup was cold, and you have to know what you will eat in the morning and pay up if you end up less hungry than expected. Really, there is nothing about this hut, apart maybe from its location. If you do decide to go, make sure to bring your own toilet paper as this is not included in the (relatively high) accommodation price.
