Very unique riding that takes you through a stunning landscape along the water. The two hour guided included history about the surrounding area. Helena provided instruction and a very safe taking into account everyone's riding level / experience. Wonderful to work with Kitty and Helena for this adventure. Amazing place, places to horse and even had seals swimming around nearby Riding in the water with the back drop of Croagh Patrick was amazing. Great knowledgable staff and tour guides Safety and equipment demos as you would expect, really healthy and a really good activity Definitely recommend. Lovely experience! Felt very comfortable and safe. A unique way to connect with the landscape. Wonderful! This horseback was one of the reasons we chose to come to Ireland and needless to say I’m disappointed 😒. First, the office was hard to see because it was tiny. It was located in the front so that was good. When we checked in, the lady at the desk was disorganized and didn’t seem to know we were on the list to ride? I had booked through Travelocity and I showed her the tickets for two riders. After we showed her the tickets, she asked someone from the stables if the tickets were okay for us to ride? Then it took 10 or more helmet sizes before the right one fit. They had us take our shoes off in the tiny office to try on boots and we were falling into one another. There was a bench outside, so I’m not sure why she wouldn’t have us sit instead? The gals in the stable pair you with the horses. I thought I was going to get one with long hair on the hoofs like the pictures advertised, but that wasn’t the case. Only some get those! The horse they paired me with was very tall and I’m 5 feet, so it wasn’t easy to get on and off. Quite the jump down 😬. I had to have a stool to climb up. I’ve never had to do that at any other ranch I’ve been to. The horse seemed frustrated and kept backing up away from the other standing. The horse tried to bite the stable gal when she walked it over to me and also tried to bite me a couple times on the ride. I had to pull its head away. It wasn’t an aggressive bite though, more like a nip. On the I had to constantly pull the head from trying to eat too. It was more of a workout than a nice relaxing :/. The itself was boring and awkward. Nobody was talking and it was not fun! Other rides I’ve been on people were chatting and having a good time. I was in the back of the line, so idk if that was why? When the guide was talking halfway through the ride, on the beach, it was windy and I couldn’t hear anything she was saying 🤷♀️. It was the only time someone talked and I have no idea what was said? The is mostly flat and walking on back roads. You get views of pavement and fields mostly. They do bring you through water during low tide. It was the best part of the ride. It was not a white sandy beach that is advertised though. It looks murky like mud. There weren’t any seals like advertised as well. The pictures that were taken of me, weren’t great. They use your phone, so make sure to bring one! Also, make sure to dress warm. It was chilly and windy out there where the photo is taken. Myself and my Husband did a 1 hour trek with Carrowholly Stables. We had such an amazing time! Helena and Sarah were so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Neither of us had riding and they made us feel completely at ease. The views along the route were phenomenal and overall just a wonderful experience. We loved every minute. Thank you 🐎😍💜 This was out of this world, I think it even tops my Algonquin Park ride. Guides were knowledgeable and flexible to ensure everyone was okay and confident. I’m a very experienced rider but was a bit rusty and nervous, the lovely Trooper took care of me. Highly recommend and would love to come back. all in shape and get regular breaks. An amazing place!!! My husband and I did a while on vacation and it was one of the best parts of our trip! The staff are extremely kind and organized. The day we were supposed to go there was bad weather and they timely contacted me to schedule a different date. Helena was EXCELLENT the day we went and helped us get situated and guided us through the ride. We were on the for a little over an hour and took a beautiful to the bay and even went through the water. She even took some photos for us! If you want to add a horse to your trip I highly recommend this one! You will not be disappointed :) I had a at Carrowholly, booking was easy and the yard is close to Westport and easy to find. The are relaxed and happy and obviously love their jobs. Guides Emily and Alex were really friendly with lots of local knowledge, and they did a job of managing a mixed ability so the less confident felt comfortable but I was in no way bored and got plenty of opportunities to canter. The scenery is breathtaking and getting to in the sea was amazing and obviously a favourite for the horses! Emily took some photos and video which was really kind. I’d highly recommend Carrowholly, as a more experienced rider it was and I was very impressed with how the staff and took care of the more novice in our group. Big thank you to all the staff and a kiss on the nose for handsome grey Billy. Fantastic wee morning with my 2 kids! I was very comfortable with the mixed ability and was confident to leave my son with a leader (typical boy and has no idea of her name!) and Alex and Emily were great- very knowledgable on the local area. I had a lovely wee canter and a gallop and I would come again if visiting Westport. The at Carrowholly Stables was amazing. The people there were super friendly and the very calm and well-trained. Most of them are Irish Cobs, but they have other breeds too. We were in a of 6 and some of them have never been horse-riding before. But they managed it quite well since we started of as a with walking and then me and my sister could sometimes trot ahead and canter a bit and then we waited for the others to catch up or we rode a small part twice. We cantered a bit at the beach and even had the luck to see some seals. Back at the stables we got some tips for cafés in westport so they were also very helpful. And furthermore I think they offer the at a very fair price. We paid 40€ p.P (without tips) for a 1h at the beach. I would highly recommend it for everyone staying close to westport and even the 1.5h drive from Galway was worth it. Unbelievable of a lifetime. Alina and Rebecca were guides and very informative. Worth every penny. for first time Extremely knowledgeable and friendly group!! Accommodating to availability times and very efficient getting to and on with the trip. With a wide range of abilities of my group, they effortlessly impressed us and gave a history lesson on the surrounding area. As they recently transitioned away from weekly lessons to educating and entertaining tourists, you’d miss a opportunity to with Carrowholly Stables! If you are heading to Ireland’s west coast, book and see for yourself! This was an absolutely beautiful ride. Everyone at the stables was so kind and helpful, and Becky’s instructions got me comfortable in no time. Easily one of my favorite things I’ve done in Ireland!
