I wasn't expecting this pub to be anything more than a spot for tourists that service expensive but mediocre food. I was VERY wrong! The service was fantastic and the food some of the best I've had, especially in Ireland. My son's chowder was full of and very rich and creamy. It also came with 2 slices of wheaten bread. My penne was astonishing. So rich and full of seafood. I loved every bite. We will definitely make this a go to place when in the area. Oh my gosh this place was the best. The chowder was amazing. It was one of the best soups that I have ever had. A tad bit expensive but well worth it. I wish I. Oils eat here everyday. Everyone in our party loved the food - especially the Guinness stew. I just had a quick lunch, and a Guinness 0.0, but the team were incredibly pleasant and friendly, the food was nice, and service was quick but not rushed. It's a great spot, I removed one star because the small area I was sat in was rather cold! It was a nice little nook though. And the salmon/crab combo felt a little pricey at €21.50 for what it was, but it was a nice dish regardless. We absolutely loved our stop in and lunch at The Tavern, it was so unexpected but I think our favourite meal we have had in Ireland on this trip. The staff were so lovely and helpful. They catered for me being Coeliac What a sensationally homely way to refuel after an up down on Croagh Patrick. The Guinness hit the spot, oysters the best we tasted in Ireland and remainder of the platter sourced not a few miles from where we sat. Whenever I’m in Westport, I make sure to eat here at least once – they serve the best beef stew! Delicious, full of tender meat and veggies, perfectly cooked with Guinness. Simply divine. Highly recommended – but be sure to reserve a table! Lovely tavern with friendly and accommodating staff. Very popular, so reservations recommended. We didn’t have one, so ended up having to sit on the patio. It was nice, but a bit cold, and there were loads of midges. Blankets were provided, which was nice, but a heat lamp would probably be better and may have helped deter the bugs. The food was very good. I had the “award winning” chowder, which lived up to the name, and an order of wings (which were good, but not as impressive). Service was good, prices were typical, and the food came very quickly. Also highly recommend their local beer selection. We really really enjoyed our experience in this tavern 💕 We had a long day hiking the mountain, and I can only say that this was the best tasting food I’ve had in a while! Will come again if near this area and recommend!! 🤤 Return visit and it’s lovely to see that nothing has changed. Top service amazing food. My husband had the pan seared Seabass and I had probably the best steak I have ever had. The desserts were also amazing. Sorry I didn’t get the name of the lady and gentleman that served us. Literally nothing would be too much trouble. Look forward to my next visit. Wonderful family meal at The Tavern. We had the tasty lamb starter and goats cheese. Great size portions and very tasty! For mains we had the risotto and burger and both were delicious. Maria made the suggestion for the lamb and was 100% spot on. One of our favourite dishes of the night. We had no room left for dessert so will just have to go back! Thank you for a fab meal. Great food and friendly service. We’ve eaten here three times over recent years. Super spot for dinner or lunch if you’re visiting Westport and the general area. The lobster and feather-blade of beef were fabulous last week!
