Beautiful work of art , the sculpture really sends you into the history of the genocide/famine of our ancestors. Haunting reminder of our struggles and past . 🇮🇪💚☘️ a lovely place to sit and take in the view of the sea while being in a peaceful environment. It commemorates the Great Irish Famine which occurred between 1845 - 1849. The memorial is located in Murrisk Millennium Park, across the road from the Croagh Patrick Visitor Center parking lot. It is free to visit and contains very interesting and stark imagery. Monument didn't really tell you too much apart from it's in aid of the famine. You only need 5 minutes but don't park in the car park over the road as waste of money for 5 minute view. Park down by the abbey which is down the side road, free parking and actually more interesting to see the abbey. Amazing monument. It's just across the road from the Croagh Patrick carpark.
