We book the place for my ASD son's birthday. Manager was so kind and he prepared "quiet" privet bar with a separate entrance only for us as we expected more people coming with autism. Bar was stocked up with non alcohol drinks. Overall The Railway Bar is highly recommended for parties for young people with ASD disability. I've been here twice. The pint of Guinness is absolutely spot on. Locals are a friendly bunch. Place is spotless. Nice beer garden and smoking area. Staff are great when you can get their attention. Very busy both times and they always had time for a few words. I will be back again. Always great stop off between office and train station. Great place for a pint in portarlington if u have time to kill between trains We had our wedding at the Railway Bar and Venue, and it was the perfect choice. While we hired in all our stuff, Nail was incredibly helpful and supported us with the setup and anything else we needed. His mother was also wonderful and added to the overall positive experience. The venue is designed really well, offering a nice space for about 50 people, which was ideal for our intimate wedding. We hired a specific area, making it private and perfect for our celebration. I highly recommend the Railway Bar and Venue for anyone planning a small, intimate wedding. Thank you, Nail, for helping make our day so special! Waiting for the train we had a couple of lovely pints of guinness served by a very pleasant young lady (hope u get into the night club in athlone lol) so much so we waited for ten more trains .go there you won't be disappointed . Amazing staff . one of the barmen looked after our group all night and helped get us a taxi home cz we couldn’t get one. Outdoor area really nice good vibes definitely return. very welcoming place On an extremely busy day/night one thing that stood out to me was attention to detail that very often other places over look. Staff were great and the girls toilets were manned all night with a member of staff keeping the place tidy, well stocked and bodies moving steadily. Great job Didn't eat there so can't review! While bouncing around the country visiting friends we had to switch trains in Portarlington. The girlfriend and I had never been in town here and saw the railway bar from the station just behind the car park. We decided to stop in for a pint, and it was one of the best decisisons we made in our whole time over. Patrons and locals were friendly, bar was clean, and had a nice outdoor beer garden, pints were reasonably priced, but the bar staff were what set it apart. We were enjoying ourselves so much we almost missed our next train, and Niall ended up giving us a lift up to the station, and we barely made it on. I'm from the states but lived in Ireland 7 years and will make it a point now to jump off for a couple drinks anytime I'm coming through this part of the country again. 5 stars. Lovely pint of Guinness Great spot for a night out the Saturday evening was hopping with a DJ and great music, absolute gem of a place. Excellent pub, I always pay a visit while waiting for the train, everyone is extremely welcoming, locals, owner, bar staff. A nice pint of Guinness, well done all involved.
