It looks like a secret place as it located by the train tracks. The park is very well taken care. The parking situation is dangerous if you have kids or dogs and it's busy. The from the road down when there's cars passing is terrifying. I'd avoid on very sunny days as it's very busy but on quieter days it's heaven on earth Very nice hiking. We did the red one which was like 10.4km. They had stuffy bears on the trees for bear hunt with the kids, very beautiful paths on the woods and it was not crowded. There were just some litter during the whole though. Absolutely beautiful place. Spent time over with my family for a week and would visit here with my son and partner. In summer you can also swim here. but you have to be careful because the lake is deep. Wonderful area just on the edge of Portarlington that was once an area of peat production and electricity generation. Now converted into a beautiful area for walking , jogging ,fly fishing. Two lakes are the focal point of this region with multiple walks and tracks for all levels of fitness. Picnic tables are dotted all around the lakes so it’s ideal for families to enjoy a day out . Check this area out you won’t regret it. Derryounce Forest Park is a hidden gem! The tranquility of the forest, combined with its diverse wildlife and picturesque lakes, makes it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
