The is honestly better than Starbucks, and the ice is even better than proper Italian gelato. The place has such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere too. What truly blew my mind was their use of real whipped with their desserts! I’ve been to about 10 restaurants over the past few months, and they all used the cheap stuff from a can. I was starting to think that was the new norm — but not here. Mammy Johnston’s actually uses fresh cream, and you can taste the difference. This place is a gem. Always top quality and great service. What's also incredibly handy is that Mammy Johnston's is one of the very few places in the area that stays open late, which makes it the perfect spot for an evening dessert. In addition to their amazing ice cream, they also serve crepes, providing another great option for a treat. You can grab your goodies to go or choose to sit down and enjoy them. They have seating available both inside and out, which is perfect for a sunny day or for sheltering on a cooler evening. If you're in Strandhill, do yourself a favor and stop by Mammy Johnston's for a scoop (or two!). It’s a highlight of the village and a place we'll definitely be coming back to. We stopped buy to have the ice and we’re not disappointed. Although there was a huge queue, it was quick enough to get our order! Got the honeycomb, Nutella cookies and Oreo and the Oreo one was the star of the show. Unfortunately I was too anxious to take a picture of my choice (it was beautiful) and the counter was packed. The place offer other stuff, like pastries, crepes and more. I had an oat milk coffee, that was good, but not delicious. I also had a gluten free chocolate cake, that was too sweet for my taste, but again it was good - and it is usually so hard to find GF options that it was a nice touch. The pastries counter is beautiful, everything looks - and the perfume that was coming from the crepes - delicious! They have plenty of spaces to seat both inside and outside, or you can just grab your food/ice and walk around the sea side. They also have plenty of toilets inside. Highly recommend! As fist this looks like an ice shop, but I’ve inside, it’s a large establishment offering excellent coffee, pastries, ice and other refreshments. Enjoyed a and crepes. Recommended if you are in the vicinity. Lovely gelato, smoothies and crepe. The staff couldn't be nicer. desserts and great coffee. The atmosphere was very pleasant and cozy. Highly recommend!
