I made a reservation for this place through booking, about two weeks before my arrival and received numerous confirmations from Landgoed Het Grote Zand. I booked it with my company credit card (I'm self-employed) and ticked "work" as the reason for my stay, because I sometimes work remotely, and I can expense some of the stay. However, I was planning to stay here over the entire weekend (obviously not working). 3h before my arrival and a 10h drive away from home, the hotel called me and and informed me in an extremely impolite way that they had to cancel my reservation because it was work related and that was against their policy. In over 30 years of travelling, I have never heard of such a ridiculous argument. When I tried to explain my situation, they ignored me completely and basically wished me good luck finding something else (it's summer holiday season). If there was indeed such a ridiculous policy, the hotel could have easily informed me a week before and cancelled the reservation in time, instead of 3h before my arrival and sending me numerous confirmations before. Fantastic place to stay!! I would recommend to anybody looking for quiet and high quality place for holiday break!!
