A few days holiday in letterkenny and wherever l go l love to find the Church and lit a candle with a prayer. Church buildings can be so interesting in architecture and history. St. Eunan's is lovely. Apart from the Harry Clarke Windows in this fine building, there are a lot of other religious artifacts and images too. Many of the cherubs painted into the plaster appear to be the work of Harry Clarke Beautiful church with amazing architecture in and out. Doors were opened, something I love to see in a church. Toilets outside. Definitely worth the walk up the hill. Steps to enter and doors are manual. There were a few parking spaces outside but there is a car park across the road. I don’t normally attend church but I do enjoy strolling around and looking at the architecture and the windows and this is a beautiful, peaceful place. A very beautiful Christmas visit on December 26th .they do a nice life size crib inside. Marble carvings at the altar looked really good, one can walk behind the main altar and see a second altar dedicated to St Mary. Beautiful inside and out! I attended a funeral recently, it was directed with care and compassion, which gave mourners comfort and a sense of calm in a very stressful time. but I also visited in autumn as a visitor. A most serene space, I wanted to just sit and absorb the silence and the serenity and calm atmosphere. I will return again for calm and peace St. Eunan's Cathedral in Letterkenny is a true architectural gem that stands as a testament to Ireland's rich religious heritage. Steeped in history and adorned with exquisite craftsmanship, this magnificent cathedral is a must-visit for anyone exploring County Donegal. From the moment you approach its grand facade, you're greeted by a sense of awe-inspiring beauty. The imposing spire reaches skyward, drawing the eye upward to the heavens. As you step inside, the interior unfolds in a symphony of light and color, with stained glass windows casting vibrant hues across the sacred space.Every corner of St. Eunan's Cathedral tells a story, from the intricate carvings adorning the altar to the solemn beauty of the nave. The atmosphere is one of reverence and tranquility, inviting visitors to pause and reflect in the presence of something greater than themselves. But beyond its architectural splendor, St. Eunan's Cathedral is also a living, breathing community hub. Regular services and events bring together worshippers and visitors alike, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.Whether you come to admire its architectural brilliance, to seek solace in prayer, or simply to soak in the serene atmosphere, a visit to St. Eunan's Cathedral is an experience that will stay with you long after you've left its hallowed halls Alot if good memories here growing up. Such wonderful architecture and workmanship. A beautiful area to pray and great mass experience. Opened in 1901, this magnificent cathedral is one of the highlights of Letterkenny Town. From it's curious sandstone figureheads to it's alter railings made by the father of Padraig Pearse, to it's 156 hand carved pews, all with their own unique pattern, this building is a celebration of Irish architecture and well worth a visit. Nice little cathedral. Stumbled across it by chance. Really great artwork and stained glass.
