A lovely short break, centred around my brother's birthday earlier in June 2022. Excellent reception welcomed us and we were quickly in our room, overlooking the pool area. The underground car park is cool and secure. Food is lovely - you cannot leave the table without feeling satisfied. The quality of the serving falls into two categories. We had the best, professional for the evening meal which was a triumph. However, lunchtime and afternoon service, on both Saturday afternoon and on Sunday lunchtime, in the bar area was suboptimal. Now, being charitable I must state that the country is recovering from the pandemic so I am adopting a tolerant view. There may have been fewer on duty than was optimal. The bar were pleasant and they were working hard, but there was a lack of co-ordination. We witnessed three couples, late in Saturday afternoon June 4th, who simply wanted to pay their bill and get on with their journey. This is a simple case of walking around the area regularly and checking each table occasionally, to continue the expected high level of service. A little adjustment (and maybe one or two additional daytime members in the bar area) would raise satisfaction levels to match the five-star experience of the rest of this resort. Would I return? No, because the overall manufactured "golf and villa" resort trope just doesn't work for me. But if Mar Menor is what you want, then this place WILL meet your needs. The birthday party - the actual reason for our visit - was highly enjoyable and worth the hours spent flying around Europe. We had a one bed apartment which was extremely small. Crowded with two of us. Huge thanks to the people who warned about no tea towels or hair dryer. No English channels TV and you can't pair with your phone as the TV is quite old. The furniture is flat pack rubbish and worn. Beds were ok. The shower was good and lots of hot water. We only had cleaning/bed/towel change once in our 11 night stay. Outside there is a communal pool which although not the cleanest was refreshing. A short walk to the hotel for breakfast. If you are veggie or vegan don't bother! Great value for money staying here. The most traumatic time we already had with my husband's accident in hospital, added to staying in this horrid place. Terrible in every way, customer service non-existent, run-down, noisy, dirty, overpriced. We paid 890 euros for five day stay in one bedroom apartment which they now charge a quarter of a price. Total rip-off. At this price for 2 people they don't even clean or change towels or bedding. Never been so stressed. Pool opposite our terrace was full of screaming kids all day until midnight, we never sat on the terrace. Even though pool hours supposedly 9-20h, no-one takes notice. Look at the photos of rust in bathroom, condition of the sofa, kids jumping in the pool at 11pm in the dark and heading there at 9pm. Really??
