Good for a quick stop, good menu with a wide range menu for everyone Dog friendly ! First at this today in Houghton le Spring and greeted well by the staff. Great customer service. Nice clean shop. I spent just over £18 , initially going in for just eggs, chicken pie & Cappuccino. I also got a scotch egg yummy 😋 marinated chicken skewers, treacle tart, and a pork pie. Prices aren't too bad, especially with better quality of meat & sweet treats. Has a cafe, in which I will go in another time. 5 disabled parking bays outside of the shop; & a huge car park. Has a lot of seating area, I can imagine it is nice in the summer & has a play park. I will definitely be back again soon. Love the Shop. Expensive though. We tried staying for lunch. However youngest struggled decide what she wanted we ran out of for breakfast menu. Lunch carvery we wud have had wait another half hour to order while they cease breakfast order. and switch to Carvery. So it put us off waiting so we chose to leave. Ive heard on word of mouth the Sunday Lunch is Amazing. I'd like try go back someday give proper review. First at this today in Houghton le Spring and greeted well by the staff. The food was delicious and the staff are friendly. My wife also enjoyed a look around the shop. Highly recommend This place has a lovely coffee with amazing food, staff are lovely and it's attached to a selling some top class food. It's a hidden gem, you need to pay it a visit. Just been again and this place is still amazing. Food is so good. UPDATE just been for Sunday dinner here and we will definitely be coming back it was absolutely delicious we both left completely stuffed. I'm going to stick my neck out and give what looks like the only negative review. I use the regularly but popped in to the cafe for breakfast with my wife this morning and I have to say it was one of the worst breakfasts we have ever tried to eat. I say "tried to eat" because we couldn't stomache it. I ordered the sausage patties with bacon and Swiss cheese andy wife chose the mushrooms on toast. My patties were barely cooked and almost raw and my wife's mushrooms were 'swimming'in butter. The experience put us off eating for the rest of the day. I appreciate I am probably a lone voice but it was dismal. Will definitely never eat there again. Waited an hour for 4 kids breakfasts and a sausage sandwich. Drinks came fairly quickly but had to order more drinks when the food came. Kids were starving due to the wait. They need a different system for ordering food and drinks. My daughter attended on another day and they waited 40 minutes for cake and tea!! They complained but were told volume of orders had caused delays however for the sake of tea and cake they should have a different different station or something. Probably won't go back. This was our first visit, and we were all impressed with the shop, looking around before going in for food. The food we got was exceptional, we had the hot beef sandwich with triple fried chips, very tasty and the bread was so light. There was that much on the plate I couldn't eat all of mine. I asked for a carton to put my half sandwich in, as I was full. To be told I could have tin foil to put it in or pay a £1 for a carton. I opted for the foil, as at other garden centres we have been to, have been given a carton free of charge. This is the only reason I havnt given 5 stars. We will return, as was a luvly place, but will take my own carton with me. Fantastic, home cooked food - from to plate. You can taste the freshness and, with huge portions (such as an Everest of scrambled eggs), you'll definitely not go away hungry! The is excellent, with a wide range of exciting products and the butchers is the icing on the already-very-sweet cake. Love this place, it's absolutely one for the foodies 👍🏼 I've recently been trying all of the butchers in the North East and have found this one to be my favourite for pork - the quality is really good. I also bought a frozen rabbit to try for the first and that was lovely as well!
