Unfortunately not the most serviceminded staff in our experience, but they do have some brochures about things to do in Asturia Unfortunately, the man working there didn't have sufficient English skills (which is very uncommon since he is working in a tourist information office) so he didn't understand what I was asking him and didn't provide me with the information I needed. I would even ignore the lack of his English knowledge if he would at least smile and be friendly instead of being annoyed because I was speaking in English. I felt really bad about it and uncomfortable even though I did nothing wrong. Later I even tried to speak Spanish (although I am very bad at it) and from the moment he heard Spanish he wouldn't speak English anymore and just continued in Spanish even though I didn't quite understand him (and I told him that). At least he gave me a map of the city and some timetables, which was nice. Also, he showed interest in where I'm coming from and for how long I'll be staying here (that was nice as well). I'm not writing this review because I'm angry or because I want that man to feel bad about the situation, I'm just trying to address the problem for the future. As a foreign person in this city (or any other city), I would be very happy to be understood and attended in English language when I'm at the tourist office. :-) I was at the on Saturday around 16:00 and was serviced by a 40-something male employee. He spoke strong-accented English, but his behavior was “ in a hurry”, robotic, like he needed somewhere to be. After seeing some other bad reviews of this office, it’s obvious, that the manager has to prune bad employees from this team. Stopped with a few quick questions and ended up spending half an hour chatting with the staff. They provided me with far more information than I had expected, including material to help in planning a route through Asturias on the Camino de Santiago. The lady spoke English very well and helped us with all our questions. She took all the time to explain what to visit, not just in Oviedo but also in Gijon, Aviles and villages around. Very rude man who just treated us like idiots for coming to Ovideo on a Monday. "Everything closed. Holy rest day."
