There's a nice national park that surrounds the area and if the weather is nice, makes for a good natural walk. The outdoor part of the museum is nice and can be visited without entrance ticket. Lovely place for a walk, look at the old buildings, have a picknick or visit the cafe. Only one tenth of the original Abbey buildings remain, and even these have been heavily rebuilt and reconstructed after the reformation. Beautiful place though, good exhibitions for kids. Esrum Abbey is a Cistercian abbey from 1151. The abbey is well preserved, boasts an interesting history and now features a few interesting exhibitions and a cafe. Not to forget, they abbey is located in the National Park “North Zealand of Kings” with breathtaking nature for walks, cycling, angling and much more.
