A wonderful experience with so many to explore. You can walk down to the Glyncorrwg Ponds, or over to the Rhigos, or the Bwlch Mountain and finish up at Pen Y Cymoedd Windfarm. The views are spectacular, with the odd stream and waterfall not show on the map. There are lots of biking so just be mindful of the speed they travel at. Well worth a visit.. What a beautiful place with stunning views! Afan Forest has loads of walking and several mountain bike of varying difficulty. Be prepared for hills as there are lots of them. I made the mistake of not bringing a backpack with water and snacks and ended up quite thirsty as some of the are quite challenging. The map was a bit tricky to follow, especially with so many trails. Some walking were signposted well, but further along, like on the orange path, it started to feel like we were off trial, with one sign saying that the path had been closed. There are plenty of great facilities on site, including showers, toilets, and a cafe called The Base (separate review for that). Parking is paid, two pounds seventy five for four hours, which I thought was reasonable, and it even allowed card payments which was a nice surprise in a rural area. Amazing forest, absolutely beautiful views over Glyncorrwg. Beautiful views! Walks from the visitor centre are different lengths. The longest one is very long and hard, but worth it. Other walks are quite short. Many mountain bikers like this place and come here. Welcome to the great outdoors! Excellent outdoor venue with a multitude of trails. Highly recommended for day out with the family. Beautiful place so calm and relaxing Our first visit and we weren't disappointed. The weather was absolutely glorious and everyone else decided to take advantage! We were walking the orange trail, but got lost several times. But lots of experienced walkers able to guide us back to the right track. Some of the are mixed with walkers and cyclists but everyone very aware and it felt safe. We had our 6 year old grandson who didn't always move quick enough but cyclists slowed down. Next time I will take a walking stick to help me as some bits were a bit steep. We stopped to have food at the river where there are a few picnic tables. It was like summer there. My footwear was not appropriate and paid the price...so off to invest in a pair of walking shoes.....not trainers; I would have given it a 5* but feel that signposting could have been better...I ended up climbing over a fallen tree until we realized we weren't anywhere near the orange trail....but the blackberries were lovely....and the Halloween cobwebs. We will definitely visit again. It's paid parking, toilets and showers available. facilities. Great trails, some of Skyline is closed which is a shame but clear diversions in place. Brilliant cafe, amenities and very helpful bike shop. Great 6 hours of riding the trails...end descent is very and openly difficult in parts. Mountain biked a red trail. Really clear start point and excellent signposting throughout trail. Visited today and had a tour of the museum with a gent named Sam,very knowledgeable easy to talk too and ask questions on various aspects of the museum. I was just going to wander through on my own,very glad I didn't. Finished off with a beetroot latte and gingerbread cake in the cafe,Well worth visiting. Very place. It has a camping side and also few lodges. Restaurant staff are great and friendly and the food is very good. The bike park is amazing. My son and I had hours of fun!👍 Recommend for people who love outdoors! Meadow is a bit on the small side and a small walk to the toilets however a beautiful view of the mountains. Another fantastic day out with the dogs here today, such a relaxing place. Parked at the Rhyslyn car park and walked the beautiful mountains of Neath Valley. My route consists of a pit stop at Base Wales, where they do a variety of drinks, hot or cold, and unreal food.
