Beautiful sandy with little pockets of nature, lots of little cafes and places to eat fish and chips. It's the undeniable Gavin& Stacey capital of the world. Locals are lovely and easygoing and there are amusements available for the younger crowd, very nice day out. Lovely day in Barry Island, everything you need for all the family. fish & chips. Ice cream, cakes, gift shops, amusements, toilets, parking. Beautiful sandy and much more. Friendly people. Nice place to have a relax and has the views to compensate. Plenty of shops around the town and on the seafront to get food and drink. Could only stay 2 hours due to parking. Plenty of stuff to do though mainly aimed at youngsters. May well return in future. Had the potential to be an amazing location. Sadly dogs are not allowed on the large, beautiful looking main beach. We had the option of 2 small beaches either side of this, one got busy very quickly, the other was so muddy it was hard to walk on. No point in going back which is such a shame as it has so much promise. Plenty of places to eat; obviously there were arcades for the kids and a few of the rides were open (mid May); I suspect it's a great place for the kids when in full season... Nice clean beaches; good to see no dogs were allowed on the main beach, but plenty of walks further along the shore front. Love it! Only went because of the hit TV series but I loved looking around. Also good for coastal walking. Some free parking at one end of the beach, which was great for walking along the beach.
