A few good white knuckle payed for by tokens, kiddies and amusement arcades etc, everything you'd expect basically. In mitigation for Barry Island Pleasure Park I did visit in November and none of the were operating. It was cold 🥶 and it was raining 🌧 but this type of entertainment may gave been acceptable back in the sixties, it's very dated and needs a good kick into the present these days. The usual 'kiss me quick', 'oo-er, missus, sounds a bit rude' 'end of the pier' stuff. Rock rots one's teeth, candy floss, toffee apples, are bygone treats. Bring on the carrot 🥕 on a stick, bring on the healthy snackages more appropriate for the youth of today. Always love visiting Barry Island when I visit. It wasn't as clean as I seen before around area, but still great place all the same. Marco's cafe was busy as always and it was packed, great to see they are still thriving. The majority of were closed and unattended, plus the roller coaster broke down just as the cart was about to embark, which was a pitty, couldn't use all tokens and they do not do refunds. Great place if you like rides, crazy golf and arcades. Nice beach, wasn't too crowded. Could remember scenes from Gavin & Stacey, Nessa's slot machines etc. 😊 One of the most cleanest and looked after beaches I've ever visited. If your a fan of Gavin and Stacey this has the arcade that Nessa worked at. Stacey's house is five minutes away and Pam and Mick's house is ten minute drive away. My two year old loved walking around and looking at everything! Not so much going on anything but wonderful free fun for a little one. The only concerning thing was the floors. They seem in quite bad disrepair, and the amount of bolts on the floor is concerning. Hopefully they aren't from the rides!! Wish I’d read the reviews before wasting my fuel coming here.. This place is an absolute dump! The look like they’re on their last legs and there was no way in hell I was going to risk putting my child on one. Many arcade machines were broken, many are left outside in the rain rusting away because they can’t be arsed to dispose of them properly, signs and advertising boards are dumped in random places and the floor hasn’t been swept for a good few months. The only staff we saw were constantly checking the ticket machines to see if there was any money inside them. It screamed desperation. My photo was taken on a Tuesday evening at 19:30hrs. It should be busy with tourists and kids enjoying the half term holidays.. but nope. It just looks abandoned. The area is clinging onto the success of Gavin & Stacey.. it’s the only reason you’d even come here.
