The Royal Mint was very good. The walking through the machine area was interesting and the young man giving out the information was very knowledgeable. We actually made a £2 on the day which we now have as souvenir. There is a cafe and toilets on site and a very large museum for you to visit. No photographs allowed on the Have to park across road from Royal Mint unless have disable pass. Very poor signage to access mint. Cost £17.50 to do tour...reductions for OAP. Peter informative. Shop ok. Did get to strike own coin. Cafe very busy, service slow! Really enjoyable from the welcome, the and cafe. Our was, Dan, who was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humour. It's a very interesting taking in the whole history of the Mint. Our ticket included the strike your own - this changes every six weeks. No photos whilst on the tour. Very nice cafe with good coffee, good menu at very reasonable prices. Nice shop, WCs and large free car park. Would recommend. A walking amongst the machines (no photography allowed in this area) which make the money and fascinating to learn how much work goes into minting a coin. There is also a comprehensive museum you can at the end. Plenty of parking, although, not well signposted. Best buy tickets in advance. Allow at least 2 hours. Excellent venue and brilliantly run from our welcome, our Tom and all the catering staff. Food was value for the money and the only thing that there wasn't more on sale in the such as back issues other than that 5 stars all day long Very interesting visit. Unfortunately no were being produced when we visited, that would have enhanced the experience. can take between 1 and 2 hours. Be advised, limited photography is allowed. Our Tommy was really lovely. Confident and engaging with all attending the tour A morning out. Also, The staff in the restaurant were so lovely too. Big shout out to them If you have a child who gets bored easily like my youngest. Bring fidget toys as you cannot take pictures use your phone in the main which takes an 45mins to an hour. We paid for the package by pressing our own 50p and afternoon tea. The was informative. We got to go into the factory, although nothing was running. Then press our own 50p. While it's all automated, it was fun and a keepsake. Afternoon tea was lovely. Tablecloths and China for tea. Ample food and lovely cakes. A nice trip on a rainy day. I really enjoyed visiting the Royal Mint. The was very knowledgeable and informative throughout the tour. Seeing where the are made in the factory was interesting. You can mint your own coin. The exhibition was really well put together and showed lots of history of making, with exhibits of coins, medals and equipment used to priduce them. There's a lovely where you can purchase and other gifts from. The staff were friendly, and you can eat and drink in their friendly restaurant. Overall a superb day out. The Royal Mint VIP Tour- I visited with my dad because he collects some of the coins. I didn’t know much about The Royal Mint but now I do! You don’t have to be a collector to have an amazing time at this place. I was expecting a long lecture or sales pitch almost but it was nothing like that at all. We were treated to hot drinks, snacks, a gorgeous lunch spread with blue cheese and Brie (vegetarian and vegan options were also available), a miniature afternoon tea with a selection of cakes and little gifts and souvenirs to take home at the end too. It begun with a brief summary of the history of The Royal Mint, we then had one of the individuals who designs the actual come to explain his thought process and some of the symbolic meanings to his designs. He explained his inspiration and pointed out some of the details you’d never usually notice. We then moved through to the actual itself where we were shown the fascinating stages behind the making process. We were given opportunity to make our own and ask as many questions as we liked. The entire day was incredibly well put together. Super well organised, continuously interactive and genuinely flawless for me. The group was small and intimate so it felt like they could tailor the day to us and everyone was super engaging. For several days after I found myself continuously telling people random facts about our coins, foreign currency, gold bars, the history of london, olympic medals … I would absolutely recommend! Fantastic experience, so interesting. I think Lesley showed us around on the and she was so knowledgeable. way to spend the day. Museum was fantastic too, got to feel the weight of a 2012 olympic gold silver and bronze medal using a weight on a ribbon. Will be returning with the rest of the family soon. We recently visited The Royal Mint, and it was an incredible experience! It was fascinating to explore the rich history of coin-making and learn about the Mint’s innovative approach to sustainability. Hearing about their initiatives to recycle electronic waste and recover precious metals was particularly inspiring. The fact that they are repurposing materials from old technology, such as mobile phones and laptops, and transforming them into products like fine jewellery is a fantastic example of modern innovation meeting heritage craftsmanship Their efforts to support the circular economy and address environmental challenges are commendable. It would be to see these initiatives expanded further in the future, perhaps by establishing partnerships with postal services to make it even easier for people across the UK to send in their old electronics for recycling. Overall, it was a brilliant visit, and we’re excited to see how The Royal Mint continues to lead the way in both innovation and sustainability! The Royal Mint Christmas is truly magical. Our grandchildren were spell bound from start to finish. The staff were all fantastic and made the really special. Fantastic day at the Royal Mint Experience. We decided to do the with lunch and strike our own included. Our guide, Tommy was fantastic, spoke very well and could answer all questions. We were very lucky as we got to see some £1 being made. The lunch voucher was excellent. We had £25 total for two. We got a huge plate of food, drink and snack for journey home. We chose the vegan burger which was delicious. Striking our own was fun and gave us a souvenir to take home with us. I expected to see more available for sale in the but it was mostly gift items related to the themes of their recent commemorative coins. Overall a day. Had a really enjoyable to the Royal Mint. Tom the was excellent, really knowledgable and engaging. The was fascinating, even without the production on the day you got to learn exactly how the in our pockets are made. The gift was well stocked if not a little expensive but the cafe was a real gem. Delicious, well made food and value for money. All the staff were happy and friendly too. All in all an excellent few hours. Absolutely fantastic experience. Very knowledgeable your guide. Struck our own and did very well on the lucky dip in the shop. Would highly recommend.
