Just a few minutes by ferry, and from Klaipėda you can find yourself in a real corner of paradise - the Curonian Spit, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the part of the city of Klaipėda called Smiltyne. Long beaches of soft sand stretch here, dunes protect from the wind, and fragrant pine forests help to relax from the fatigue caused by everyday life and work. I-os Smiltynės stretches to the south of I-os Smiltynės beach, about 2.5 km from the port. There is a parking lot next to this beach, there are toilets, there are changing cabins on the beach, and lifeguards are on duty. On the way to the there is a place where you can buy drinks and snacks. There is a men's to the north and a nudist beyond. II-os Smiltynės is covered with fine sand, but it is not very wide. Locals sometimes call it the Portuguese-style beach. There are fewer people here, and the feeling is like being at the ocean. By the way, a real "ocean view" opens from the nearby Hagen dune! Both young and old visitors will be impressed by one of the most visited museums in Lithuania - the Lithuanian Maritime Museum and Dolphinarium. Great beach, great sand. There are no exchange cabins or showers but it was not crowded in the weekend during the high season. Nice for a stroll, but may be windy, beware Main Smiltynė is a great place to relax with family. Clean plenty of relaxing chairs to use for free. Good WC places to park bikes, a couple of cafes. There's also a shower that you can use free of charge after taking a swim. Most importantly it's quiet and not overcrowded. Within walking distance around 10 15 min away from the ferry. This is one of our favorite spots in Klaipeda. Very much bike-friendly. From the ferry old, it is a 7min walk to go to this beach. It was amazing to walk in the afternoon, and seeing the Baltic Sea with a gorgeous sunset!
