Amazing zoo. Hands down the best in Lithuania. The are well kept, you can buy some to feed the birds, monkeys and other animals. A great day for adults and children alike. You should at least have 2 hours to spend here to get the full experience (we've been here a few times, both times it took close to 3 hours to pet, feed and enjoy the zoo). Surroundings are not impressive, very basic,a lot of of same kind,sad to watch them bored. This should be called a wild zoo, they had so many! 😂 I'm not complaining though, I love wild cats! The only negative is that the look a bit dated. Very hard to get footage or look at the through the bars. Very mixed and opposite feelings after visiting that zoo. From one hand it is so nice and handy to be able to see so many big and other so close, even touch and hold small tigers! BUT! Seeing all of them in so small is making you feel very sad from the other hand.. Been here for second time, quite nice zoo, most of have spacy cages, wolves look like they could have more space, but comparing to other such places, it's nice. You can see owls, parrots, lions and camels and many more. It's absolutely awesome, a lot of animals, especially a lot of different kind of big cats. ar spacious and in lot of occasions connected. Offcorse there is room for improvement, it all could be more taken care of, but nothing critical. If you come before 18:00 it's possible to hold newborn little and take pictures. Three stars only because we could see a lot of and lions but you could see almost every was in stress. were dirty, some looked injured, walking around back and forth. Dirty - excrements everywhere, uneaten bones by them, grass wasn’t cut anywhere, live on a concrete or sand, no place to hide from rain. Old wooden trails for them to walk around. It was great to look at but they seemed stressed and angry. They need to take better care about because I believe a lot of people come there and price for one person it 12 euros which should be quite enough to clean up and make more comfortable environment for animals. If you are big cat lover then it is great to see so much so close, but in ethically i felt very bad to se so many in so little space. They looked well fed and fat, but were dirty. It would be way more pleasant if it was one third of those in the same space. And one mare thing i didnt like was, that they sell baskets off to feed animals. Been there twice, but the last visit made me sad. I am not going back there anytime soon. At first it was like a private family Zoo, cozy and simple approach. There were less and some harmless were running free within the territory. Then they changed status and became official Zoo. However, many years have passed since my first visit, but I don't see much of the improvement. The place still looks like it is under construction. The number of is increasing, but the conditions aren't any better if not worse. Especially for the big cats, pumas and such. There is one thing I am particularly not happy about, which gives me a clear signal that they might be mistreating animals. They sell wheat to their visitors. Many times in other Zoos I saw signs that and buns are not healthy for the animals. Seriously, there are so many different species in this Zoo. Is wheat a good diet for all of them? Doubt that. A very disturbing experience! This is not a modern zoo, but an prison camp especially for the big cats: tigers, jaguars, lions of which there are dozens living in cramped and poor conditions. Shut it down! The place is not a zoo, it is abuse. Not complying with welfare. Poor are kept in very small enclosures. The government should go in and take the away and fine the owner and stop them from ever having again. These deserve better. Coming from the UK I have never seen such horror in a zoo in my life! There are a lot of and lions here, I have never seen so many in any zoo. For 3 eur you can buy a bucket of vegetables and and feed the animals. Absolutely horrific. The are crammed into tiny cages, standing in their own filth. About every second shows stereotypical movements – pacing in circles, repeating the same motions – clear signs of deep psychological distress. They have NO place to hide from visitors, forced to live exposed and stressed. Many are literally knee-deep in excrement. And to make it worse – at the lions’ enclosure there was a torn-off chicken head thrown directly against the glass. This is beyond neglect – it is straight-up cruelty.
