This is a totally underrated stop. This place is a true all-rounder. You get accommodation, food and a museum. The museum teaches you about the birds of the area and - I guess most interesting for your children - about the 1725 sinking of the Akerendam ship and exhibits the uncovered treasures. The food was really good! They have gluten free meals and something you may have never tasted before: goat ice-cream - and most interestingly brown goat cheese soft ice-cream. Yes, you read that right! It was delicious. So for anyone who are lactose intolerant, this is your place! They also sell lovely wool jumpers and a great yellow fisherman hat that prevents you from getting your head and neck wet. We still regret not having bought it. A must-have for Norway! Great staff that is knowledgeable about Runde and the surrounding areas. Nice place to sit and relax. Had a nice and comforting lunch here. Loved their fish soup. The exhibition is 100 NOK for adults and it gives you information about birds, fish and the ship wreck, that sunk in 1725 at the coast of Runde. The exhibition is educating and entertaining. It is also possible to book tours and events. You should visit the homepage beforehand. Furthermore there is a café. They offer different warm and cold meals, as well as cake and coffee. We have been here two times and enjoyed our stays both times. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. A very practical kitchen so we could prepare meals (since there are no restaurants nearby). Very close to the puffins and other birds on the island. A good spot also to take day trips to other hikes. Very recommended! I highly recommend this tour. My family had a private guided hike (Puffins) from Johannes and it was amazing. He is very knowledgeable and kind with patience for my hiking speed. He is excellent at explaining information and answering all of my questions. I have done many tours/guides and this was my favorite. ❤️🐧🥰 Great location! We stayed in the apartment and it was very nice with fantastic views. I would recommend getting groceries/dinner before coming to the island as the closest place is twenty minutes away off the island and the cafe at the center is closed in the evening. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay. The kitchen is fully equipped for any needs, and the surrounding environment is beautiful.
