The woman who works there was very unfriendly to us. The narrow road leading to the campsite is a bit of an adventure. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return. Owner was super friendly and working hard to get everyone a spot. He told us that too many people show up on days with good weather so he just isn’t able to give everyone a spot despite trying his best, there is limited space. We came on a rainy day and it was easy to find a spot for our camper even though we arrived around 6 in the evening. The walk up to the puffins is a bit steep but good to manage. Come prepared with water and go in the evening. Best viewing time is between 8 and midnight in the summer months. We had amazing views of the puffins and it was an experience to never forget. Sanitair was fine. Nothing luxurious but clean and does what it needs to do. Since it was the only campsite in the area, we decided to stay there – and it turned out to be a great choice! Yes, the place is a bit older, but everything is clean, well-maintained, and fully functional. There’s a lovely grassy area for tents, which was perfect for us. The camper spots are located on a gravel area closer to the sea, while tents are set a bit further back. The owner was very friendly and even gave us a hiking map with clear directions – super helpful! The kitchen is well-equipped and has everything you need, and there’s even a small kiosk on site. In the evening, we were treated to an incredible sunset – absolutely stunning. And as a bonus, you're almost guaranteed to see puffins and many other birds. A truly special experience and definitely worth it.(2 h) One thing to keep in mind: being right by the sea, there are lots of seagulls around. They can be quite loud during the day/night and are very eager to steal your food if you’re not careful – but that’s part of the coastal atmosphere! Thank you for a wonderful stay! Lovely campsite beautifully located on spectacular bird and nature island. Run by local Knut who has been around the place for half a century and turned it into his own. Quiet relaxed atmosphere, too. We just wanted to fill our water bottles, so we stopped by and went to ask if we could. No one was there until after a while a man came out from the building and shouted at us DISAPPEAR really rudely. We couldn't even explain ourselves, he continued shouting at as until we left. Really unpleasant man. Great place to stay, no reservations possible, which is okay in August:) we still had a nice place at the beach arriving at 4PM. Amenity was a little old but clean and one toilet/shower is available at the beach. No need to go behond the big house. The owner told us it is terrible to fit all in in June. But with no reservations, what other way than „just showing up“? But no puffins, they fly out early July and are only there in April, May and June (a little in July). The 🙌🏻 Overall We came quite late — around 9 pm and it was hard to find a spot for a tent, but the owner was nice and helped us find a place. He also gave us a detailed map and explained about the walking route. The walking path is great, amazing views, good wooden roads. 🚿Facilities The camping is quite old, so the toilets, showers, kitchen stuff is like from 80s, but everything works and is clean enough to use! Showers are for free, washing and drying machine are 40 nok each. Keep in mind that you’ll need some earplugs — the camping is right on the seashore and seagulls won’t stop crying 😅 And if you stay close to the shore — there’s gonna be some smell, which is natural here ofc.
